The easy solution would have been for TPTB to ban her. This whole thread could have been avoided and there would be no new marks for Janet to prey on. I'm confused why she is allowed to still post here after years of this behavior.
Maybe they are afraid she would go for legal action again. I haven't read the membership agreement/TOS lately, I forget if they say that they reserve the right to ban anyone for any reason.

I'm not trying to change minds, just to clarify what i mean, because heaven forbid someone on the the interwebz doesn't understand me!
I just feel sad, that as you said, our community is maybe something less than what it once was because of it, and it's still having a negative impact.

Not going to continue the drama by slinging mud, but wanted to put this out there.
Keith's death and the LIF fundraiser occurred very early in LIF's life. Remember, LIF only started in May 2005. The population on LIF back then was basically just newlyweds from LIW. I wasn't even really active (but was a member) because I was still posting on LIW.
"THIS" (hands whirling over head) was a TEENSY close-knit community at the time. There were barely a few hundred posters. EVERYONE *knew* each other from LIW. When Keith died, EVERYONE felt it. Everyone pulled together because Janet needed help. Later, when it became evident that Janet had less than honest intentions, it hurt and angered a number of people. It tainted this community.
So yes, some people aren't going to ever let this go because they were personally hurt by it.

Because you asked. Here is is straight from their rules.
"Long Island Families, Inc. reserves the right to terminate your access to any of these areas at any time without notice for any reason whatsoever."
So YES - they can ban anyone at anytime. The fact that they haven't is probably a combination of 2 things
(1) They are letting enough information get out so the newbies get the whole story and
(2) It IS the weekend.

I think that FINALLY it was described for all to see and understand. The last two pages explained to those who didn't know, what went down and they were able to make their own minds up about how they felt.

Absolutely agree! On a side note I cant figure out who the heck mrsk is and I KNOW I have to know who she is, I cant figure it out though. One clue makes me think Morgan, but I dont think so. I cant figure out what went down on this one and I know I should know this person. No clue who was banned bc of janet.

I agree. However, I keep thinking using this method would show harassment and a law suit could happen, no? I mean in terms of people calling her mental, dyslexic, making fun of her family etc... and knowingly leaving it up.

I dont understand why people feel justified in their actions of calling out people who call others out, but feel like the initial caller-outers are wrong. I dont understand people who are going on and on in this thread telling other people to move past it. And i dont understand grown ass women feeling like they have the right to tell other grown ass women how to feel/act/respond- especially coming from some that were not even involved in the initial BS all those years ago. But, there's lots of things i don't understand in life, so maybe someone here can feel pity and internet diagnose me as being mentally retarded. But anyway...
Can we speak about something more lighthearted? Like the time that Janet's "friend" came on to LIF and demanded that we get together 3 THOUSAND dollars for Janet so that she could have sperm extracted from Keith's body so that she could still have the option to have his baby. Cause that one always warms my heart

I have to say that this is the MOST thoughtful and well put together explination of this whole debacle.

Jennifer we ALL get that YOU don't think it's worth our time and energy responding to her, but that's NOT for you to decide. You've made your point and it's been acknowledged....sorry, but you're not changing any minds here.
To respond to an earlier poster....I think the board responded to Janet because of the sheer tragic events that unfolded in such a sudden fashion. I *believe* (and could be wrong) that it was the 1st time on LIF that anyone had dealt with the loss of a DH so publicly. I think it just struck a nerve with every.woman.here. That, OMG, it could happen to any of us fear and the people of LIF rallied to help this woman as if it was happening to them kwim? It was devastating to watch all the details as they unfolded and people just wanted to help.
For her to have taken that help and tainted it the way she did makes me sick. It is beyond a shame that none of those other ladies who have suffered tragedies were given the same type of support (fundraisers etc) because of this makes me even more sick.

Jennifer I'm pretty sure you know, since you've been around as,long as we have, that trying to tell a large group of angry and hurt LIFers how to handle a debacle this deep and wide is not going to go well. Just sayin.
I believe, if I remember correctly, Keith died very shortly after they married. - a few months after. Most of us were newlyweds, and felt the sting of that loss. But what was less obvious and what was overshadowed by the loss of her DH was prior to that she was frequently playing the woe is me, I'm a single mom card. Another way to get...attention, money, free shit...whatever.
