Dormering a Ranch? Has anyone done it
I was wondering if someone can give me an estimate on what they spent to dormer a ranch? I am looking for contractor but have no idea if they will be overpricing me or giving me a fair estimate.
Thank you...

My brother put a second story on his 3 bedroom ranch and also added a huge great room off the back. Upstairs is 3 huge bedrooms and a very large bathroom. They resided the whole house and added a front porch I belive it was a little over $100,000.

I am thinking of doing the same thing...however I will be meeting with an architect and contractor (just so that I can get a few different ideas) this evening! I'll let you know as soon as I get some prices!

Re: Dormering a Ranch? Has anyone done it
Thanks everyone. I am calling some places today as well. The problem we have is the extensive termite damage so that will need to be fixed in addition to the dormer. We figured we might as well do all the work at once since everything will have to be opened...

Re: Dormering a Ranch? Has anyone done it
We put a second floor on a small ranch in queens. The second floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. We also did work on the first floor as well (new sheetrock, update electrical, new basement stairs ect) Plus all new siding outside
We paid about $120K total by the time it was all done. This was 5 years ago.
My advise is to have more then then estimated amount becuase random things come up during the work. Our original estimate was closer to $105K
