What kind of easel do you have for your older child. Megan was never interested in an easel before and even now, it won't be so much for painting or drawing, she LOVES to play school. Her teacher uses an easel to teach lessons and she wants to do the same thing at home. I like the Melissa and Doug one because it's wood and looks just like the one in school but I am not sure about how good it is. We also need something that folds up when not in use because we literally have NO room in here anymore. Height adjustable would help too! Recommendations?

I recently saw a table top easel in one of the catalogs I get. It looked very much like the sturdy wood easels you see at pre-schools but without the longer legs.

Maybe land of nodChat Icon I'm not home right now or I'd look.

Re: Easel for an older child..

When the boys were younger we designated the bonus room in the basement as their art room. Basically we just took one wall and covered it with wood and then tacked up sheets of paper all over it whenever they got the urge to paint/draw, etc.. It was awesome because the paper could be adjusted to their height and when they were finished we just moved it up further so it could dry. Do you have a wall in the playroom that you might consider for that? It's something that grows with them.. and if they stop using it, it's easy enough to remove the wood and go back to a normal wall.

What about a dry erase board or a small flat chalkboard? My DD likes to play school with her younger brother sometimes but with space constraints I got her a small chalkboard at Michaels.
