Re: EBAY-negative feedback, is it THAT bad?
I would be mad if you gave me negative feedback, 3 months AFTER the fact, WITHOUT trying to contact me & resolve the situation. You could have shot her an email.
She might have just refunded your money. Ive done that to people who were dissatisfied with my purchase and DIDNT ask for a return. I've also offered to reduce the price. But that's what you have to deal with when you buy & sell on ebay.
bottom line - you were wrong.
I can't say I can justify her writing you a nasty email, but in all honesty I would have probably done the same thing given the circumstances. Some people make a living off ebay, and take it very seriously. I would never think to leave nasty feedback to someone without trying to work it out first.
I'm sorry I don't agree with you, but these are just my 2 cents.

Honestly, descriptions can be very subjective. I don't see anywhere here where you have described exactly what was wrong with the item's description...
reread
I never stated EXACTLY, but in the Macy's post, I said it....
Can you post the listings? I'm sorry, I'm dying to see how missrepresented this add was
I would love to..... Here's the description Up for auction is a rare and unique set of 2 retro folding snack tabless . I believe the table to be from the 1950's. The tables measures 24' tall and the tray is 23.5" long and 15.5" deep. The tables fold up to less than 1" thick. The tables are in great condition, the black metal does have a few minor scrapes. The tables are sturdy and stable. Only one table is shown in photo's The photos are taken from approximately 6 feet away, no photo of the "scrapes".....
Also, when there ARE defects, aren't photos usually taken to show?
And exactly what is, in your opinion, inaccurate about this description?
Is it the scrapes? If the item description says there are scrapes that aren't visible in the pictures, then you should have asked for pictures of the damage. Is there a different problem with them?
You had to know of the limitations of the bad photos when you bought (you saw they were taken from far away and didn't show the damage disclosed in the item description) -- why didn't you ask for clearer photos before bidding?
ETF typo.
ETA -- I'm only asking b/c I'm trying to figure out the descrepancy between the description and what you got.

Re: EBAY-negative feedback, is it THAT bad?
wow. I didnt read all of the responses to this post, but as a sometimes-EBAY seller I think that leaving negative feedback without contacting the seller and giving her a chance to rectify the problem is a really sh*tty thing to do, just not cool.
And saying that you were "having a bad day" that day is a poor excuse, and just as fair as her saying she sold you a cr*ppy item because SHE was having a bad day....doesnt make it right, does it?

I didn't ask for clearer photos, I needed SOMETHING....I had a newborn, I thought they would be good enough.......they weren't.....
I waited, kill me......
I fogot that the buyer is not allowed to make rash decisions and judgements but the seller is.....now I know the unspoken RULES.....
The tables were listed in GREAT condition.......
THEY ARE NOT IN GREAT condiditon.....they should have been left at the curb!!!!!
This is my problem. I am mad at myself for buying someone else's crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: EBAY-negative feedback, is it THAT bad?
I'm just trying to figure out why they aren't matching the description. I'm not trying to flame you. You are saying your problem is that they weren't accurately represented. WHAT about the description isn't accurate. All you've said so far is that they don't work for you and the description isn't accurate. Just generally saying that the description you posted isn't accurate doesn't explain why it's inaccurate. That's all I'm asking. If you don't want to answer that, fine, but I'm just trying to get an understanding of the actual problem with the listing.
Is there more damage than just the scratches?

yes, it says GREAT condition, not true! The entire thing is covered in scrathes. If I actually wanted to use them, I would have to sand and repaint or cover them. There are paint aplatters on them as well.
Using the terms vintage and retro are not alternatives for saying they are BADLY scratched and old........
What does it matter anyhow? I did the wrong thing and the seller is blameless.....

Re: EBAY-negative feedback, is it THAT bad?
Okay, you just edited your post to sort of answer my question, but still very generally. Nevermind.
You obviously aren't happy with them. I hope you can work it out with the seller so you are both satisfied.

I just dont understand the rationale that by being nasty or spiteful is the way to go. If this is the way you go thru life than Im sure you already know that you are going to have unneccesary problems.....this is a business, not grade school....

HUH?? You said you had a newborn and you needed the tables...I dont understand what they have to do with each other.....
there are plenty of stores that sell snack folding tables that you could have bought from instead of doing it on ebay if you needed them so urgently
just curious....

I sincerely hope you are not implying that I was nasty or spiteful. I feel/thought this topic was discussed rationally, as well as thought provoking.....
Seems as if some want to turn this discussion into grade school, and it surely isn't me.......

I'm a bit confused by this as well. you could have gone to bb&b and bought some folding tables.
I hope you can try to work it out with the seller.

Not sure where it is your business to ask, but I guess I have to explain...
It is hard enough to have a straight head everyday (you should know you seem to have 2 children yourself), but to be able to get out of the house to purchase something, ANYTHING is a chore in and of itself. I was looking for ebay to help.
I had NO kitchen, dining room table or ANY table for that matter, until about 1 month ago.... It seemed unnecessary to schlep my newborn out in the cold to buy something. I am new to this mom thing, I tried to find an easier way....
All because you HAD to know......

Re: EBAY-negative feedback, is it THAT bad?
your negative feedback can be looked at as being spiteful for not being happy with the product and not contacting the seller.
