EBF Moms to Newborns: 2 Sleep Questions
How many hours are you getting per day (24 hour period)? And, how long is your longest stretch of sleep? I'm so tired that all I can do is cry.

Re: EBF Moms to Newborns: 2 Sleep Questions
in the beginning 45 minutes to an hour if I was LUCKY.
it got better after like week 3 or 4.
now I get about 1.5 to 2 hours a stretch, and sleep about a total of 5-6 hours a night during the week (I am also back to work). my son will be 2 months old Sunday. I have always been a terrible napper, so I didn't do much of that while I was home.
I was downright EXHAUSTED.

Until DD was 4 months her longest stretch of sleep was 2 hours except for the few times she fell asleep in DH's arms.

Re: EBF Moms to Newborns: 2 Sleep Questions
It does get easier I promise. For us DD started sleeping well about 2 weeks.
I swear the first 2 weeks were a blur, and I don't remember much of that time. the first 2 weeks the longest stretch was 3 hours, but the norm was 2.
How old is your LO?

Re: EBF Moms to Newborns: 2 Sleep Questions
I guess I am lucky. I got (and still get) 3 hour stretches. But I think it is b/c I am co-sleeping so at night she wakes up, I give her the boob, and we both drift off to sleep.

Re: EBF Moms to Newborns: 2 Sleep Questions
DS is 3 months and the longest stretch of sleep I have gotten has been 4.5 hours. DS has started to sleep for longer stretches now it's just that I can't seem to go to bed immediately after he does, there is too much that needs to be done. I'm not a very good napper either DS now sleeps for a 5 or 6 hour stretch, BF's then usually sleeps for another 3 hours.
I hear you on the exhaustion. DS hardly naps during the day and it is exhausting! It gets better though

Re: EBF Moms to Newborns: 2 Sleep Questions
For the first few weeks the longest stretches were 3 to 4 weeks, with an average around 3. DD started sleeping better pretty soon. Now at 10 weeks she's sleeping 7-8 hours consistently, waking up to eat and sleeping another 4 or so. It will get better!

Re: EBF Moms to Newborns: 2 Sleep Questions
in the beginning 45 minutes to an hour if I was LUCKY. This is me. My DS is one week old today (Happy Birthday Little Man!!). But he nurses every 2-3 hours (start time to start time) and each feed lasts about 45 minutes. I can't get more than 1.5 hours and that is a rarity. I'm only averaging about 4-5 hours in a 24 hour period. It's taking it's toll. Thanks so much for the replies. It helps to see that this is something that we all go through and we all successfully manage.
