Re: You moms keep saying that newborns sleep...
DD is 5 & 1/2 months old and most days, still sleeps a lot - not as much as when she was 6 wks, but still a lot. I would say you have at least another 5-6wks of a ton of sleep ahead of you.

Then they don't
Their naps decrease..they start taking 4 or so naps a day, then those decrease to longer less frequent naps..down to 2, then down to 1..then now like me with a 2 and 3 year old..my 2 year old barely naps an hour a day and NOTHING from my 3 year old since she was just about 2.5 years old.

That seems scary to me LOL
Right now I'm working on my PhD and I've set up with my adviser that I can do a lot of work from home to be w/DD
So I guess I should plan to have a babysitter come help during the day as she gets older....I'm trying to guess when I would need help so I can get work done...now its not so bad cause she sleeps a decent amount

Re: You moms keep saying that newborns sleep...
DS did around 2 months, but every child is different.
Honestly, I found it almost easier when he went down to two naps a day, and easier still when he went to one nap a day. You can get more done with them, and you kind of know exactly when that nap is coming and roughly how long it will last. Though you do spend more time with them, so it is harder to get other things done.

maybe around 3 or 4 months. Then she was just up more. Like before she would always sleep in the car or in the stroller, but that stopped. Then I started to form a nap schedule.
I followed the healthy sleeping habits happy baby book.

DS has always been a big napper. now, at almost 12 months, he still takes a 2-3 hour nap in the morning and a 2 hour nap in the afternoon.
every baby is different

Re: You moms keep saying that newborns sleep...
DD #2 is 10 weeks old and today is refusing to sleep at all - she wants to play and talk to Mommy all day (it is catching up to her though and big time crankies are setting in.

I agree, every baby is different. My DD is just about 7 months and still sleeps alot! She sleeps 12 hours at night and takes a 2.5/3 hour nap in the morning and then a 3.5 hour nap in the afternoon.

ITA! i LOVE knowing my 2 yr old will sleep at a certain time each day. during the newborn stage it's all over the place and i find that much harder!
