EBF moms who work and pump

DD is 5 months old and I still EBF even though I work full time. I pump 3x a day - which is how many bottles DD drinks while I am away. I was on vacation 2 weeks ago and nursing full time. Came back to work last week and was short on my bottles all last week and had to dip into my freezer stash to have enough. Now today I am going to be short again, so it looks like I may be having some supply issues. Any suggestions? (Beisdes drinking water - I drink a ton!)

You can try oatmeal, Mother's Milk Tea and/or More Milk Plus. Make sure you're eating enough. Pump more often if you need to. Replace the membranes on the shields if you haven't done so.

If you're getting sick or getting AF, that could also affect your supply. Good luck! Chat Icon

This was my nursing trick. I would wake up before DD and pump. I'd get 10 oz in that session alone. There was plenty for DD also- so its not like she went hungry.

If you do that for a few weekends- especially with labor day coming up, you may be able to catch up.

Good luck.

Do you mean getting up in the middle of the night? Because I wouldn't want to do it right before I fed her for fear that I may not have enough

You'll have enough. Babies are more efficient at getting the milk than a pump. BFing will also stimulate more milk production.

If you're really concerned, you could always wake up an hour earlier and pump or you could pump right after nursing. If I'm not pumping as much as I normally do, I'll pump an hour or two before I feed DS in the morning. It sucks to wake up so early, but I get so much more than when I pump at work.
