Re: egg allergy moms?
No, no flu shot here. He's never had one and both the allergist and ped continue to recommend that he doesn't get it as long as he's allergic.
I have heard of kids with egg allergies that do get the shot and tolerate it o.k. I think it depends on the allergist.
There's no substitute unfortunately. Even though we don't do it, we have been advised that DH and I should get the flu shot to try to help keep it away from DS. We've never done it, and luckily DS has never had the flu.

yep, same with Lee - my dd has never had the flu shot but since her allergy diagnosis, DH and I are sure to get the shot each year.
ETA - when the time comes, look into the MMR vaccine as well - ours had to skin tested and administered at the allergist's office separately because of the possibility of egg proteins (I think?) as well.

Re: egg allergy moms?
Teri's right. The MMR was administered by the allergist in order to watch for a possible reaction. There was none for us although I put it off until he was 3. I don't think the MMR is cultured on egg anymore, but most peds will want it administered by an allergist when there is an egg allergy.
