Elecare for about 7 weeks still blood in stool
my daughter has been on elecare for about 7 weeks still has blood and mucus in the stool anyone have this?

It can take a long while for the intestines to heal. That could be causing the blood still. Give it a little longer...DS is a little over one and is still on it....Maybe try one of the other hypo-allergenic formulas. I know there are only 3...Hang in there...

thank you .. it was weird she tested negative twice for the blood in her stoll the mucus never ent away really but now she tested positive for blood in stool again thx

If she hasn't already been tested for C Diff, have them send out a stool sample to test for it. It's a bacteria and blood in stool is a symptom. If she has it, she'll need antibiotics.

I BF my DS with a dairy/soy allergy and it took a really long time for the blood to clear up after I changed my diet. It usually takes 6 weeks but sometimes can last longer. We had an appointment set up for a sigmoidoscpy so the GI doctor could take a look inside and make sure nothing else was going on to cause the blood. We did a stool test right before and it was finally negative so they cancelled the test. Are you seeing a GI specialist?

no they told me bring a diaper back friday to see if its gone and if not maybe see a gi..but im thinking i will go anyway because the mucus never really went away

We use Dr. Weinstein at Schneiders Childrens Hospital at LIJ...She is awesome..

We use her too. I agree that she is excellent. She was our second opinion after seeing a different GI and we switched to her. I'm not sure where you live, but she has a satellite office in Commack in addition to Schneider's (now Cohen's)
