Election Day Results
Anyone hoping for certain people to win? Watching certain races?
My area doesn’t have much, a lot of unopposed candidates. My polling place was sadly a ghost town at lunch time.

Definitely.
I was confused by the clean air and water one - as I was like shouldn't we be guaranteed that anyway?
I hope the others are overturned.
We didn't have anything too crazy going on here - one Town Board seat might be close but, most other people of importance were running unopposed.

Yes! So crazy.
Republicans took Virginia. Amazing how a state that was strongly Dem swings right after such destructive policies.

Looks like NYC is screwed from what I read about this new Mayor. No one is learning and they are destroying the city :(

I haven’t been following him closely but he couldn’t possibly be worse than DeB, right?

I have heard he's in-line with him. It's not really a surprise though that he won.

Yup - it shows you don't upset parents. I feel his one comment about parents shouldn't have a say in what is taught in schools sealed his fate.

My NYPD friends aren’t happy he won. According to them the city is done….too many police/fire/ems are leaving and it’s just not safe anymore.

He was a captain when my DH was on the job and he said he was horrible back then too. Not very well liked.

Is this a surprise?! NYC is a hellhole. People there would not vote in a good guy if he fell from heaven and was on the republican side…especially now. Wait till it’s time to vote for governor. It’s no secret how that’s gonna end up

Yep, no surprise. I mean they voted in DiBlasio for a second term so NOTHING at all surprises me. The city gets what it deserves

Bloomberg ran as a Republican and was a 3 term NYC mayor. It's the candidates that are lacking as they have no problem voting Republican.

Like i said there is no way Liberal NYC is gonna vote for a Republican now or anytime soon even if he is a gift from God.

Election Day Results
Nyc voted for Giuliani twice and Bloomberg three times. And New York City has always been ultra progressive and liberal. Sliwa wasn't a strong candidate. I am a liberal Democrat and I am so disgusted by DE blasio that that I would have happily voted for a Republican mayor this time around. There are definitely republicans that bring a lot to the table and many that I would be proud to call my mayor. Sliwa wasn't it. Granted as a Nassau county resident I can't vote for the mayor anyway but if I still lived in Queens I wound have zero problems with a republican mayor. That being said I also would have never voted for Adams if I still lived in the city so I probably would have sat this election day out. There are people in both parties that don't necessarily only vote by party lines. As a Democrat, I know there are plenty of crappy democrats lol.

I agree with you 100%. They had very poor candidate choices which is very disheartening for what is supposed to be the one of the best cities in the world.

Yes. Totally agree. I don't know of anyone, in either party, that liked DeBlasio and he got re-elected because there wasn't a better option.
It's sad, in both parties - a lot of times it comes down to who you dislike the least these days... I'm sure a good percentage of Sliwa's votes were because he wasn't Adams... Not because people liked him.

Actually voter apathy got DiBlasio elected the second time. They said in that election only like 22 % of people voted or something crazy like that.
