Nyc voted for Giuliani twice and Bloomberg three times. And New York City has always been ultra progressive and liberal. Sliwa wasn't a strong candidate. I am a liberal Democrat and I am so disgusted by DE blasio that that I would have happily voted for a Republican mayor this time around. There are definitely republicans that bring a lot to the table and many that I would be proud to call my mayor. Sliwa wasn't it. Granted as a Nassau county resident I can't vote for the mayor anyway but if I still lived in Queens I wound have zero problems with a republican mayor. That being said I also would have never voted for Adams if I still lived in the city so I probably would have sat this election day out. There are people in both parties that don't necessarily only vote by party lines. As a Democrat, I know there are plenty of crappy democrats lol.
I agree with you 100%. They had very poor candidate choices which is very disheartening for what is supposed to be the one of the best cities in the world.
Yes. Totally agree. I don't know of anyone, in either party, that liked DeBlasio and he got re-elected because there wasn't a better option.
It's sad, in both parties - a lot of times it comes down to who you dislike the least these days... I'm sure a good percentage of Sliwa's votes were because he wasn't Adams... Not because people liked him.
Actually voter apathy got DiBlasio elected the second time. They said in that election only like 22 % of people voted or something crazy like that.
That is true - I just looked up and there was a better option. As most people are lol.

In todays world and in NYC there will never be a Republican mayor or even a Governor no matter who they are. Its not even about politics and whos right for the job anymore when it comes to voting in blue states.

If DeLosio gets the dem nod for governor then I really believe a republican will get in. Everyone is the world, except for those in NYC know he is a complete moron and I think people who never vote will come out to make sure he does not get into office. If the democrats find a semi normal candidate, then I agree, it will stay blue.

I don’t think he has a chance with Tish and Kathy as other options.

Those in NYC know he is a complete moron. I am pretty sure every person in the United States, from NYC to rural Nebraska, knows this guy is a useless piece of garbage. The only thing he did that was worth anything was his Pre-K for All initiative. But other than that- USELESS.

Yes - I've seen multiple times that the only thing that Democrats and Republicans can agree on is that DiBlasio is horrible lol.

Election Day Results
I was watching the Riverhead Town Race. It was a "red wave" so to speak. I didn't vote this year...
