Elf on the Shelf?
We move him from place to place but I don’t do anything creative with him. I never was a fan of pintrest... dd gets excited to look for him each morn so we stick with it.

Elf on the Shelf?
Nope...I have a Santa App and can text and call Santa all year round if he is being naughty. Love it and I dont have the added stress of moving around an elf everyday.

Re: Elf on the Shelf?
It's only too much work if you make it be too much work.
I personally never thought it was creepy. I grew up with a lot of the old fashioned elves in my house around Christmas as a part of decorations - not nightmares.
I also don't enforce the BS about keeping your kid in line. We just have him as a part of the North Pole who visits and brings a little bit more fun to the holiday.
And yes - I've forgotten to move him. I now have to set an alarm to remind myself nightly.

Re: Elf on the Shelf?
My oldest asked about it for the very first time this weekend. Said something like "hey mom where's our elf?" I tried to play dumb but instead of figuring out how to explain to her why we don't have one, I just had dh order one. Ah well, I made it 6 years.

Re: Elf on the Shelf?
I haven't started it yet since DD is only 18 months. But I probably will next year. And most likely forget about him half the time.

Re: Elf on the Shelf?
I just bought the Elf over the weekend. I'm just moving him to a different spot each day but not doing anything crazy like you see on pinterest.

Heck no!!! I forget to take their teeth and give money from the tooth fairy so often, it's shameful. I told the kids that only children in danger of going on the naughty list get sent the elf when they questioned why we don't have one but so many friends do. They are generally well behaved but I just say you don't want that creepy elf coming around if you are close to the naughty list do you? lol

I don’t do it. I barely have time to keep us all alive let alone try to move a dam elf around my house.
Haha that's pretty much my reasoning as well.
Lol. +1. I can barely drag myself out of bed in the morning and function as an adult....
Well said, and I agree. However I have no choice. Poor thing gets shoved in the dumbest places lol

Elf on the Shelf?
I SWore I would never do the elf. Dd came home from PreK and was telling me all about the class elf, how they watched the movie and read the book and the rules of the elf. She then went to our tree and started talking to the Santa ornament, I think she thinks it’s a camera or something and was gushing about how she is so hoping Santa sends her an elf and she will be so good. She woke up on sat and the look of her soul breaking because there was no elf had me ordering an elf. Dh picked it up from Kohl’s, wrapped the book in her special paper and hid the elf in her stocking. The look on her face when we got home was priceless. We don’t do creative the elf just moves nightly.

Elf on the Shelf?
we've been doing it for i think 3 years now. i'm "THAT" mom that usually gets a little creative most nights. Honestly, it doesn't take any longer than finding a spot to hide it. like last night- i opened my silverware drawer and got out a pair of chopsitcks, then got a bowl out and put some rice in it--- BAM, the elf is eating chinese food HAHA another night i just took a little bit of brown sugar on the counter top, and put a washcloth down like a beach towel- voila, Elf is at the beach. It took all of 2 minutes. I would've spent that long looking for a new place to move him to! i just think about stuff we have around the house, or the kids toys and use them to come up with stuff. It honestly doesn't take me long, and their faces are priceless in the mornings because they think its so funny

I was thinking of telling DD this when she understands but then realized I'd run the risk of her telling other kids they're bad.
I might just tell her the elf is a middle man and I update santa myself!

Yes. We started it this year. So far we are all enjoying it. Ask me again on December 23rd. My answer may change!

Elf on the Shelf?
The kids love it, and I do it for them. I love being creative with it, but I am exhausted from trying to be so creative every day. DH couldn't give a flying fcucj so every year I tell him he owes me
