Re: Engagement Gift, what's appropriate
I remember my engagement party. We did not recieve cash but received a ton of gifts (mostly from our registry). I never knew people threw e-parties to help pay for their wedding.

I don't think people throw them with the purpose of paying for their wedding, but I don't see the point in giving a gift especially if 1. The couple is not getting married for 2 yrs (and would have to store everything and possibly not be able to return if they can't use) 2. haven't registered, there are only so many frames and vases one can use. 3. No one is saying you have to give $100 but if you are going to spend 25-50 on a gift, then give that in cash, why not?

I agree with this, but a bad taste was left in my mouth after seeing countless posts on here about how someone's friend/co-worker/cousin/etc was SO rude and SO cheap b/c they only gave $40 as an e-party gift. I don't see how this is cheap or rude, considering that this person will likely also give you a shower AND wedding gift.
Because if this--I only give a gift. I'll usually give a GC to a restaurant the couple enjoys so they can go out and celebrate, or a GC to BBB so they can buy things for their home when the time comes.
