I never did, I would feel soooo guilty. If I was waiting that long for my check I would of went to another waitress to ask what happend to mine, or a manager.

Never!! I cant believe how many people said yes!! Even if the service was terrible I would never end up sticking my waitress with the bill, that is just horrible. I can see not tipping them, but skipping out on the bill... no way.

Never. I'm really surpried too that so many people do this. I've never even not left a tip - even if the service was terrible - I have this guilt complex. 
Lisa, that was so nice of you to go back the next day!
Same here. I always pay and give a tip even if the service is bad. The tip may not be as large for poor service, but I always give something. I'm completely shocked how many people would skip out on a bill. If I were waiting for a while for a check, I'd ask another waiter/waitress or the manager for it. Skipping out on the bill would never eve cross my mind.

NO - I would NEVER DO THAT!!!
I waitressed and bartended for too many years and people doing to me. I LOST HUNDREDS of dollars of people doing it to me. 
Please NEVER do that!
Find someone that will help you get that check, it NEVER comes out of the restaurants pocket, it ALWAYS comes out of the employees pocket

No, but when I was a waitress these two girls skipped out on me and I chased them and they said they 'forgot' and whipped a $100 bill from their bag and asked me to make change
I made them come back to the restaurant

Nope never skipped out on a check, did complain because the food was horrible at one place and the manager waived our check. Then we were at a buffet one day and as I sat down I spilled hot soup on my lap, the waitress saw this and didn't bring napkins over til we asked, so we left her NO tip. Would you believe this waitress came running after us as we walked out the door and said excuse me, I think you forgot my tip. We were in shock from that one, told her no we didn't, thanks for all your help and left.

I used to waitress at TGI Friday's and someone I worked with got fired for chasing people who didn't pay the check into the p-lot.

a penny tip is more of an insult for bad service... no tip could mean you just forgot. But a penny...that's telling you that service was bad!

I'm guilty of crappy tips for crappy service but never flat out not paying!
same. Once gave a waitress at friendly's a stack of 10 penny's for her tip.
but we were like one of 3 tables... and waited 20 minutes for her to even come over to us. so i say it was well deserved

No, I definitely would not BUT If like everyone is claiming that the waitress took over 30 minutes for the bill to come dollars would come off her tip after the first 15 minutes of waiting. I know waitresses are busy but when you ask for the check...5-10 minutes is ample time. If it cant be done by the waitress get your boss to write the check.

As a former waitress, NO, I never skipped out on a check. I can understand be frustrated because you are kept waiting for a long time but you know you own money and can kind of figure out how much so you can always leave it on the table or give it to another server.
Exactly! I waitressed for years and I never would do this.

I can't believe how many people how many said they have done it more than once 174 people?
Anyway - YES it is the same as stealing - and you know for those who have how would you feel if you knew that your server had to pay for your dining bill out of their paycheck/tips?
I have worked in a few larger chain restaurants and so has DH and most of them make the server pay for the skipped meal.
I luckily never had anyone completely skip out but I did once have someone only leave $40 on a $50 dollar check.

Im embarassed to say YES...once in HS
But I really Really tried to pay, before doing so..
We were @ applebees, had a horrible waiter... (disappeared, messed everything up, just plain old su cked)
At the end of us eating... He asked if anyone wanted desert... a friend of ours ordered...
About a half an hour later (yes a half an hour) the waiter(same waiter) comes back, and asks again...
"anyone want desert" My friends got quite annoyed, and said um...yea I orderd the cheescake about a half an hour ago- He says ok... sorry, ill be right back..."
Disappeared for yet another 20min.- When we finally saw him.. we said 4get the cheesecake- we are tired of waiting... just bring the check... again... NOTHING- he never came back...
We went and got a manager... explained the situation, and asked him for the check...
He too- had us wait about 20 min, and brought us nothing... no one came to check on us, and we never even recieved the bill (it was like the twlight zone)
We had waited an hour just to pay... and NO ONE was helping us... so we just left!
I know its not an excuse... but how were we supposed to pay with no check??? We even hunted down the manager...
