falls asleep while feeding
I think DD would sleep for longer stretches if she would eat more at her late night (early am) feedings. Lately she'll be hungry but eat on one side and then fall asleep. I'll try waking her by changing her position, tickling her feet, talking to her, changing her diaper, but nothing works! It's so frustrating because then she's awake and wanting to eat again in like an hour/hour and a half! How can I get her to stay awake through a solid feeding??

Re: falls asleep while feeding
Unfortunately there is nothing much more you can do - DD was a heavy sleeper in the beginning too. are you bf or formula? - I am bf and would pump out a bottle and give it to her with a slighter faster flow nipple so that she would basically sleep and eat... we were fortunate that a. she didn't have reflux so she would not spit it up and b. She never had a huge case of nipple confusion and would pretty quickly pick up the whole BF thing again. However, she did have some gas pains from not burping enough and I gave her mylecon drops to help -
we only did this for a week or so and then she was more alert...
Hope this helps....

Re: falls asleep while feeding
i have not had any luck with this myself. it is particularly frustrating because i am working this week and next week to finish out the school year and i am completely sleep deprived from waking up at 1:00, 3:00, 5:00 and finally 7:00. i am thinking of giving her a bottle of expressed milk at the 1:00 feeding under the idea that maybe it takes more effort to eat and she will stay awake.
