fetal doppler
I am really debating on getting one of these. I was overweight to begin with and I am scared I wont be able to hear the heartbeat all thetime and freak out.
Also, I read somewhere you should be able to hear the heartbeat with a regular stethescope but again, I am nervous with that too.
Ladies who have used a fetal doppled, was it easy to use and to pick up the heartbeat?

Re: fetal doppler
I think you have to be 22wk + to hear w/ a stethascope.

Re: fetal doppler
The stethascope won't work until 8th month I believe. But I borrowed a doppler from 1stimemom and it's awesome!!!! So easy to use and it takes at most 10 minutes to find the HB. Usually takes me about 2-3 minutes. The other night I had trouble. But I love it and I know you can rent them for about $40 a month (the ones with the display). The one I borrowed is from Stork Radio and it's a 2mghtz. I think as long as you get a 2 mghtz one you should be fine.

Re: fetal doppler
If you are already nervous, you may not want a doppler. I know I would have driven myself crazy checking for her heartbeat all of the time. And if I couldn't find it I'd know I'd have been a mess and would have to call my OB and beg for an appt to check on the baby. Be sure that you want the stress of a doppler.

Honestly, I borrowed one and I find it every time. I think if you get a good one it isn't a problem. I have heard horror stories about those $30 ones from Bebesounds though.

Re: fetal doppler
I have the same one my ob uses, and because ds has been in the same spot forever, I know exactly where to put it to find him...I honestly have only used it 2-3 times because I see the dr once a week, but if you think it would make you feel better than do it.

Re: fetal doppler
I read if you were overweight it takes longer but I didn't have trouble. I waited for my 10th week and yes it took me almost 40 min to find the heartbeat but once I got it I felt so relieved. I used it in the begining but don't use mine anymore. It was worth it for peace of mind to buy though. I got mine on Ebay shipped in a few days.

Re: fetal doppler
I have a good one I rented but I am still having trouble finding the heartbeat at almost 14 wks!!! (and I know it's there and strong......I was just at the doctor a few days ago!!) I too was a little overweight to begin with so maybe that is why but it's annoying to not hear it. I hear my heartbeat, fetal blood flow, but not HB yet.
Any suggestions on where to best place the wand? They said under your navel but any luck any place else?? Thanks!!

Re: fetal doppler
It is VERY EASY for me to find the h/b. It never took me more than 10 seconds. If you get one and need help, FM me.
