FEVER tylenol/motrin Q (please help)

how high does is a fever when you switch between tylenol and motrin? As opposed to just giving one or the other?

And please...no lectures about motrin.

Re: FEVER tylenol/motrin Q (please help)

my rule of thumb is that if after an hour the fever doesn't reduce I switch to the other. Usually at around 102.

I would say 102 or above. I find that Motrin works quicker than Tylenol but Tylenol lasts longer. For overnight, I always stick with Motrin so DS will sleep though the night.

Re: FEVER tylenol/motrin Q (please help)

DS had a 101.8 before i just gave him motrin.

So hold off on the tylenol? Or take him temp in an hour?

He is already falling asleep

if he is already sleeping I'd leave him be. Just feel his head in an hour or so to see if he is still warm. If you think he is burning up i'd try to get his temp again if you can do it without waking him up.

Re: FEVER tylenol/motrin Q (please help)

I tend to give Motrin at night, Only tlenol during the day ...

And For me, I will give Motrin when its over 101.

No rhyme or reason to that, just my gut .. Chat Icon

And I only give BOTH together..like piggyback them when its real high...like 103 or over and only if the fever doesnt come down after Motrin within an hour.

I give Motrin if it's over 101. My dr. said to switch between Motrin and Tylenol if its not going down. Motrin, 3 hours later tylenol, 3 jours later Motrin.

what does this mean? as long as your child is 6 months or older, motrin is fine...before then it is not safe....
