FFN Fetal Fibronectin-Of those who tested Positive,
How many of you actually went into Pre labor? And if so, how far along were you?
I tested positive and I am 27 weeks. Of course, I am freaking out about it.
What did your doctors do to ensure you were not in labor?
So far, they've done an ECG Or Ekg (not sure which one) and it turned out fine and they checked my cervix. No changes. Should they be doing a sono as well? Am I missing anything? HOw closely did they monitor you?
Because I had a myomectomy 2 years ago, I will be delivering at 36 weeks. I am hoping I could hold out til then.
TIA

My cervix is fine, I don't have the preclampsia.......did you test positive for FFN?
Thanks for the response. It seems as though a Positive FFN is not the norm.

Re: FFN Fetal Fibronectin-Of those who tested Positive,
I know I answered on pregnancy, but I just wanted to add that my drs said that if the test came back positive, that they would give me steroids to help the baby's lungs develop.

Re: FFN Fetal Fibronectin-Of those who tested Positive,
I also had a positive FFN test at 27 weeks and my cervix had shortened. The drs put me on strict bedrest and I didnt deliver my DD until 38 weeks 1 day. The FFN test predicts the liklihood of going into labor within the next 2 weeks so the good news is that once those two weeks are up you dont have to worry as much...you will know it was a false positive. What was the reason for giving you the FFN test? If you are put on bedrest I would obey it strictly. I went into labor as soon as the drs took me off of it ast 38 weeks because then it was safe to have DD. Please FM me with any questions. From the times I posted on here Im pretty sure that Im the only other one to have a positive FFN.

Just make sure that you haven't had sex within 24 hours of the test. If you do, it gives you a false positive my dr. said. I got a false positive at 32 weeks b/c of that. I was overdue.

exactly....
What was the reason for the FFN?
You can get a false positive if they sample is disturbed or you have had sex or anything like that?
IMO, you should be on bedrest for the 2 weeks. BUT the fact your cervix has not changed in any way is good and points towards it being a false positive.
I didnt have the FFN's until my cervix had already shortened considerably.

Sunday, I had cramping (not intense at all) and monday, I also had cramping. I read on the internet that I shouldn't be cramping at all at 27 weeks. So I called the doctor on Monday and they asked me to come in immediately. So my guess is to rule out preterm labor. Today, I feel much better. I am just glad they checked my cervix.
ETA: NOPE, I didn't have sex.

Re: FFN Fetal Fibronectin-Of those who tested Positive,
I tested postive at 30 weeks I delivered at 34. I went on bedrest and got the steroids right after the fFN came back. Definitely get the steroids and try to bedrest From what I understand a false positive is rare, not to scare you, but it is. I did not have a shortened cervix or preclampsyia either. I had polyhydramnious (too much AF fluid). Either way, try to take it easy. Did they check your fluid levels?

Re: FFN Fetal Fibronectin-Of those who tested Positive,
what is your Dr's course of action? What have they told you to do?
You didnt have an internal exam before the test either right?
Did they do any monitoring for contractions?
The negative is more a valid response then a positive. Meaning a negative is generally a coreect negative.
A positive is not always always an indication of anything.
Im gonna say some prayers for you.

I heard that false positives are very common. I had a positive at 34 weeks and i was induced 5 days past my due date. I wouldnt worry but i would take it easy.
