Let's say your child was going on 5 trips over the year. Trips vary in prices, but average about $7 each.

Would you rather pay out the $7 for each trip when it comes up

OR

send in a lump sum at the beginning of the year?

Thanks!

Re: Field Trip related: Which would you prefer?

I woud rather pay at once, but I'm in more of a working class district and I'm sure there are some families who wouldn't be able to afford it all at once.

All at once.

But if I were managing it, I would think dealing with refunds or kids that were sick, couldn't make it would be a hassle.

I think pay all seperately in case there are some trips some parents may not send their kids on, for whatever reason?

This year we paid a lump sum ($25) and it worked out well.

We get the option to send in one lump sum, but I never do. Trips get canceled, kids get sick. Why create the need to have to figure out how much to reimburse and to whom? I always do it per trip.

Re: Field Trip related: Which would you prefer?

My first thought would be to say all at once, but reading the other replies about trips getting cancelled, kids being out sick on trip days...makes it more practical/logical to do it on a trip by trip basis I suppose!

I thought you couldn't charge for field trips in NYS?

I would prefer paying separately. DS was out for 4 months last year - you just never know.

plus the parents who can't pay up front

Yes. I agree. Per trip would be better for me.

Pay it all at once. Easier.
