Sleep while you can and whenever you can!! Boy, were they right!
Also, enjoy it while you can because they grow up fast!

the "bad" times (newborn, lack of sleep, feeding every 7 minutes, etc) do not last and the time flies
cherish every second.....

It goes way too fast, so cherish every second of them being small.

Re: Finish this sentence.....The best parenting advice I ever got was...??
Aside from the wonderful things the above posters have already said, some good advice I got from a great friend:
Always keep extra diapers, wipes, clothing, snacks, bottles, RTF formula for the babies, drinks in the car. We have been stuck in traffic, had accidents in the car or while out and needed these things at the last minute and it has been such a load off my mind knowing I have extras when in desperate need!

Re: Finish this sentence.....The best parenting advice I ever got was...??
When DD was a newborn, just a few days old: try feeding her a little more.
I remember trying to figure out what was going on with DD, middle of the night, she just ate a bottle so she could possibly be hungry again-and my mother in law got up with us that night and suggested maybe trying another ounce or two.
Thank goodness-best advice ever.

Re: Finish this sentence.....The best parenting advice I ever got was...??
Also, another friend (a mom of two whose kids are older) kind of prepped me for the different kinds of parents out there.
She did it in a non judgmental way, didn't make assumptions about the kind of parent I was going to be but it was very helpful since it helped keep me from speaking out of turn, assuming that "no body does that", inadvertently insulting someone, etc.

Pick your battles!!!
Figure out each child's "goodness of fit" Which is pretty much realizing what works for one may not work for the other.

Your mother isn't always right, your mother-in-law isn't always right, and your doctor isn't always right.
No one knows your child better than you. You do what you feel is best, what feels right, and what works for you and your child.

Re: Finish this sentence.....The best parenting advice I ever got was...??
I would say the advice I kept going back to time and time again regarded BF. While pregnant with my first DD, I told my aunt I was going to give it a shot and she told me in the beginning it was going to be torture, I would likely hate it and I would probably want to give up...but not to. She told me to stick with it and I would end up loving it.
I can't tell you how many times this advice echoed in my brain; she was so right! Even now, I am absolutely dreading the thought of BF #3 in the fall, but I keep remembering what she said and know I can do it again.

Agree with this one. I think DH thinks I'm a sucker, but I just choice my battles wisely
And to do whatever necessary to get through the newborn stage (let them sleep where they sleep, throw the TV on, etc.) Survival!

Re: Finish this sentence.....The best parenting advice I ever got was...??
My mom told me to wake Lily during the day to eat every 3 hours when she was 3 weeks old, and to try to keep her up for a little before and after each feeding to get her days and nights fixed.
Worked like a charm and she was SSTN at 6 weeks and has ever since.
Everything else I figured out on my own!
