When I was going through my lowest of lows and thinking Johnny may have autism, and doing nothing but sitting here crying over the future I wasn't sure he would have, I was told
"He is not a label. He is JOHNNY. Just JOHNNY. He is the funny, adorable, smart and wonderful boy now that he was at birth and will always be. Stop projecting. Treat him how he should be treated...as your little 2 year old that you love more than anything. His future isn't written and anything is possible"
His pediatrician at the time told me this advice (I may have botched some of the words but they have ALWAYS stuck with me since the day I suspected something was wrong). She was a wonderful person who encouraged me to try to just enjoy him instead of focusing on the "what ifs". It seriously has made all the difference in my life
What beautiful words for your doctor to say 
I think everyone can take these words to heart - thank you for posting them

No one knows your child better than you. You do what you feel is best, what feels right, and what works for you and your child.

Not necessarily advice given to me. But I remember once saying to someone who was getting frustrated with their collic newborn "children are given to adults to remember the value and importance of patience".
And since then whenever I have a crazy day with DS I try and remember to tell myself that.

Always carry cookies in your bag. For you or DC.
DC is perfect to you (and maybe the grandparents), but no one else wants to see the 324 pictures you take of them (from one of my friends who received 324 pics of DS during his first week). When emailing pics to anyone outside of your own immediate family, choose the best 3.

That and pick your battles. 
It's not really advice, but what i always try to remember is... it can always be worse. Be grateful for what you have in front of you.
