First night of trying CIO/Ferber...and, already a failure....
For those of you who have read my posts lately you know our sleep situation has gotten dire. Well tonight we made it 3 min, then 5 min, and then he was standing and so hysterical he was trying to hurl himself out of the cirb so DH went in to lay him down - he got so hysterical kicking and screaming he threw up all over himself. Now DH is changing him and I don't know what to do. We can keep things the way they are but, can we do this??? BTDT mommies, please help me

Re: First night of trying CIO/Ferber...and, already a failure....
We have tried CIO in all its methods so many times and hasnt worked. We have one of those chidlren who one time went 7 hours not sleeping but screaming.
It doesnt always work.
Maybe "tweak" it for you?
Regardless, hang in there, stay strong.
from what I know, good sleep habits will last sooooooo long. Try to remember that!

What finally worked for you? Or are you still not sleeping?
It's so bad here that I am literally only sleeping in 1-3 hr spurts once or twice a night!

Re: First night of trying CIO/Ferber...and, already a failure....
When we do CIO we do not go into her at all. If we do she gets even more upset. CIO usually works for my dd after a few nights. The first night of it often takes an hour to work. The next two nights will be shorter and usually after three days the problem is solved.

Re: First night of trying CIO/Ferber...and, already a failure....
OMG..i'm sorry u are going through this...just want u to know i'm going through this right now!!! I can go on forever..but jut to let you know...my son is 10 months...was waking literally every 40 min- an hr..so we decided we had to do something. He wanted us to stay in there pat or rock him..my husband and i were literally only getting 1-2 hrs of sleep every nite!
We started Ferber Tuesday night! It's really difficult! FYI: 1st nite..cried 1hr...2nd cried 17 min..3rd 13 min....4th 27 minutes..then he fell asleep on his own. HOWEVER...i feel like a failure bc he only sleeps avg 4-7 hrs straight(which is an improvemnent) but once he wakes in the middle of the nite...it's hard to get him back to sleep..so we went back to giving him a bottle Good luck..FM me if u want to talk!!

Re: First night of trying CIO/Ferber...and, already a failure....
I am so sorry to hear this. The sleeping issues really stink. I know my DD has been struggling with her sleep only due to her teething from her side teeth which is going on a month now. Some nights are easier than others.
I wish I had some wonderful advice to give you, but for now, we just hold DD until she calms down (like I said - she is in some pain or choking on her saliva - once she calms down we put her back down).
I do hope things get easier for you and soon. Hopefully this is just a short-lived stage

Re: First night of trying CIO/Ferber...and, already a failure....
Thank you so much ladies. Honestly, if it wasn't for the vomit I was ready to stick it out because things were so bad. We ended up doing sort of a modified plan for last night and he fell asleep on his own in the crib. He woke up and we did the same thing. But, its just another sleep "association" we will have to fix. I really don't know what to do tonight

I know what you mean. UGH! Well tonight, my prayers were answered. He screamed for 7 minutes - I went in once after 3 minutes and then he was out. It hasn't even been an hour yet but I am praying it will last the night
How is it going for you?
