Flying in first trimester after IVF
Hi..
I'm trying to figure out when I'd start IVF. I got AF yesterday and am thinking I'd start IVF next month. DH and I are going to the Caribbean in November. So if I got a BFP, then I'd be around 8 weeks when we go.
Did anyone fly in the first trimester after doing IVF? I told my RE and he said he'd rather I not fly if we are going to be active, but if it's just sitting on the beach, he'd be somewhat ok with it as long as there are good hospitals near by (and there are).
I'm wondering if I should push off IVF until after our trip...

I did at 11 weeks. No issues. BUT, I did switch a trip to national from carribean during this pregnancy after an issue at 13 weeks.

Re: Flying in first trimester after IVF
I flew at about 6 weeks pregnant after doing IVF. It was no problem. My RE just told me to be sure to drink plenty of water and get up to walk around every hour or so while on the plane.

Re: Flying in first trimester after IVF
I don't understand the issue. How is flying after IVF different than flying with a normal pregnancy? The only thing I can think of is that they're more worried about your progesterone levels with IVF, but if you're already supplementing then there's nothing they can do anyway. And you can always go for a check right before and right after.
You will probably have to contend with nausea on the flight though. I didn't have morning sickness with my DD but I was super sick on a plane ride at 13w pregnant. I was flying on an empty stomach, which made it really bad. So my advice would be that if you are 8w pregnant (good luck!) that you load up on bland carbs before you go.

I don't understand why you couldn't fly. The only potential issue I see is if you're in the middle of a cycle because you need to be closely monitored, so you'd be at the RE every other day or every day.
If you're already pregnant, then I don't see an issue.

I flew at 12W and had no issues. My doc didn't have any travel restrictions at that point.

Flying in first trimester after IVF
I felt like I went thru so much to get prego, I wouldn't chance flying when prego. Travel before doing IVF
