Flying long haul with a one year old who's not quite walking, but crawls like a demon..
this will be us on Monday.
Give me your best tips, please! Also, slightly controversial, but anyone try benadryl or similar? I'm very nervous to, but a doctor friend told us that it would be fine....still not sure what I think. I've flown with him three times before, but all before he was crawling and I'm totally dreading it at the minute. He's SO mobile now.

Re: Flying long haul with a one year old who's not quite walking, but crawls like a demon..
i've flown a few times with my DD to Ireland which is about 6-7hrs...at that age my tip would be don't let him taste freedom! i just didn't let her crawl or touch the ground at all so she didn't know it was a possibility in that enviornment. held her on my lap and kept her distracted with stickers/dvd player/toys etc. i think once you let them walk/crawl up the cabin once then getting them to stop is impossible.
and as for the Benadryl.....i say go for it. my ped told me to use it when i asked for tips the first time i was flying with her (at 6mths)...helped calm her down and since it was an overnight flight helped her stay asleep through the light and noise onboard.
good luck!
