Flying with a 2 year old?

Off to Florida tomorrow for Spring Break. I'm going alone with out the hubby and I'm 22 weeks pregnant. I'm very nervous about the flight and trying to keep Kara occupied. I'm not worried about my son because he has his ipod and DS.

What should I bring for Kara on the plane to entertain her?

Can I bring any snacks? I was thinking of making my son a sandwich? Can I bring her sippy cup with juice?

Also any suggestions for Disney? Should I bring the full size stroller or the Maclaren?

My best piece of advice is to go to the dollar store and buy some small toys that she has never seen and give them to her on the plane. You can bring snacks and sandwiches but no juice (you can however, buy some at the gate).

I took our Mac Techno to Disney and it was great because it reclined enough for her to nap but it also folded compactly which worked well for disney transportation.

Oh and take her in the stroller right up to the gate and have them check the stroller at the gate - it makes everything a lot easier.

Have Fun!!

The best thing for Cailen for our 4 hour flight to St. maarten was those reusable sticker books - in the bargain section at Barnes and Noble - they must make girly ones (we had transformers and trucks) - He played with those stickers for HOURS!!!!!

We do quite long flights, and although they are tedious, my advice is lots of little snacks, a DVD player if you have one, lots of walking around the plane and nosing around. We always take a load of toys and my son NEVER plays with any of them. We went to Florida last month and it took 3 flights and almost 24 hours to get there, the kid was a saint...he watched some movies on the seat screen, played with a little airplane that came free with a magazine, and jumped up and down on me! Also, yes, as Liza said, stickers and coloured pencils and paper are great.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I went to the dollar store and they had a book with reusable stickers and I got her a coloring book. I'll be sure to have a bunch of snacks and I'm going to upload a barney movie on my ipod! I think that should be good.
