Flying w/3 year old to Disney -- question?

We are not renting a car, so we are relying on the Magical Express bus.

Do we still need a car seat for the plane ride? Or can he sit comfortably in the seat?

What did you all do?

(We usually rented a car before, so I'm new to this Magical Express thing)

I like my kids in a carseat on the plane, so I would bring it. I feel like they are more comfortable and they are contained, which I like.

Re: Flying w/3 year old to Disney -- question?

I'm going in two months. She is 3

I have no intentions of bringing a car seat to the airplane. We are not renting and we are taking the Magical Express. No car seat

My only concern is that we need to make sure we get good seats. They have little TVs in there that pipe Disney stuff for the kids during that long ride to the resort. I hope AJ can burn some time watching that. Or hopefully sleeping.

We are not bringing a stroller (we are renting)

But I'm obviously pretty lay back. For me I don't see the need for a car seat on the airplane especially as I have a 45min flight then transfer to another plane. Too much hassle. Its hard enough handling a toddler who doesn't understand why she has to sit still for so long as folks pile into the plane and get settled, I'm not in the mood to have to strap her down. She's great in the car, but its vacation. JMHO The bus doesn't even have seat belts for us (if I remember correctly) which is an argument of mine for a different reason. But unless I'm mistaken its not 3 by 3 seats. But 2 by 2 so I'd rather have her on my lap which would mean I'd have to lug that car seat again. No thank you.

Again that's just MY thoughts on it (now) .. I'll let you know how it goes! hahaha

We went when my DDs were 4 and 2.5. We used the Magical Express as well and did NOT bring a carseat. I can't even imagine bringing one, frankly.

When we flew last March we didn't bring a car seat for DD.

Magical Express is awesome. Its a very relaxing way to start your vacation. Since you are not renting a car, leave lots of time for the resort buses. It could take you over an hour to get anywhere. Have fun!

Re: Flying w/3 year old to Disney -- question?

We flew last year with our DS who was 1 week away from turning 3.

He did not sit in a car seat. He just sat on the plane seat.

I have found that when they are in the car seat, their feet are closer to the seat in front of them and my son likes to kick. If he were in a car seat, he would have made the person in front of him miserable, I would have been paranoid and embarrassed the entire time and it would not have been a fun plane ride.

We just flew to CA this past June and my son was 3 1/2 and sat fine in the retugular seat. My DD was 1 1/2 and was in her car seat.

No we didnt bring car seats. The magical express is great! Just so you know, if you do bring a car seat for the plane you WONT be able to use it on the magical express. You will have to store it in the underneath compartment.

We went when DS was 2.5 and again when he was 4.5 and DD was 9 mos. We didn't bring car seats, it was fine. No problems.
