Karin - Dex won't eat any noodles either. Lu actually didn't eat noodles for a long time too, but now she loves them. I'm sure Jack's taste will change. Chat Icon

I'll give yesterday as an example:
7:30am - milk (around 8ozs)
8:30am - banana and muti-grain cheerios
10:30am - cereal bar and grapes
**NAP 11-2**
2:30pm - cheese stick, applesauce, 2 graham crackers
5pm - 4 chicken nuggets, kiwi
6pm - milk (around 8ozs)
**BED@7**

My kids won't eat veggies so throughout the day I give them sippy's with 1/4 veggie juice 3/4 water. It's the best I can do for now.

Re: food - daily intake for a toddler

It varies day to day. I never force them to eat more. I figure they do eat when they are hungry, and they are not underweight at all. They're not overweight either. They are always around 50%ile. My only rule at night is that they have to at least try their dinner before any sort of snack they request (like pudding, a cookie, etc.) They also generally eat more in the morning and sometimes nothing at night. My little one asks for milk all the time and I have to watch that. Ok, 1 more rule--they never get a second cup of juice. (and all juice is 1/4 juice, 3/4 water) If they ask for more juice, I say they can have more water

Here's the usual routine/goal:

Daycare days--
greek yogurt and berries
sometimes also some dry cereal. they usually eat it all

morning snack--whatever daycare provides. usually cereal, a small muffin, pancakes...they usually eat it all

lunch..again- daycare provided. sometimes a small sandwich, pasta w meatballs, pizza. they usually eat it all

snack--goldfish, or cheese and crackers, and fruit. they usually eat it all

dinner- whatever i make--usually some type of chicken dish with brown rice and veggies. sometimes salmon. sometimes a meat dish. they like taco night. homemade pizza or pizzeria pizza. whole wheat pasta and veggies. really can be anything. they just have a little.

dessert--usually fruit. sometimes pudding. sometimes frozen yogurt. sometimes a cookie or cupcake.

weekend-

scrambled eggs w veggies, or pancakes, or waffles, or french toast, or oatmeal.

lunch-small sandwich and fruit or chicken nuggets (whole grain/white meat), mixed veggies, or left overs.

dinner---like above--whatever i make.

i don't really have organized snacks on the weekends, but they will usually munch on something late afternoon while I am cooking.

You're welcome Chat Icon I felt the same way with DS. I was so relieved once I found out what an actual portion size should be. Things like 4 servings of grains seems like so much, but its really 1 piece of whole wheat toast.

Re: food - daily intake for a toddler

DD is 26 months and so so picky! she barely eats! It drives me crazy.
Anyway here is a typical day for her:

breakfast- one waffle or pancake and blueberries and milk

snack- 1/2 banana and/or cheerios

lunch- yogurt (every single day!) and MAYBE a half turkey and cheese or peanut butter sandwich.

snack- orange or apple or granola bar

dinner- pretty much nothing. she will drink milk again though.

she would eat snacks and bread all day if I let her but I try to limit them and/or just give her fruit which she will eat.

Re: food - daily intake for a toddler

first thing when she wakes : milk

breakfast 2 1/2 hrs later: french toast or an egg omelette or pancakes, or oatmeal, or a toaster breakfast bar.

lunch: mac n cheese, or spaghetti, or rice and chicken, along those lines with a fruit.

snack: yogurt with some whole grain crackers or a cereal bar, or applesauce. And a cup of milk.

dinner: anything from pasta with sauce, rice and beans, pizza, etc. and a cut up fruit.

She also has a wheat grass drink during the day when she's thirsty. and sometimes she wants some Annie's Bunnies crackers or graham crackers after dinner.

She is 15 months old and a good eater!!

Milk when she gets up

Bkfast: waffle, yogurt with fruit, pancakes, muffin with banana, oatmeal, cereal, eggs and sometimes a bagel.

Lunch: greek yogurt, grilled cheese, crackers with laughing cow cheese (her favorite) with fruit, leftover dinner, pastina, omelet or some pasta with meatballs..I usually make and freeze and will defrost two in the morning.

Dinner..she eats whatever I cook. Usually Chicken, steak, or fish with a veggie.

During the day she snacks on goldfish, fruit, crackers, mini muffins, cheese, animal crackers, or applesauce.
