For all SAHM's that used to work...

Do you ever regret giving up your job to stay home and raise your DC's.

I don't...Chat Icon

Regret it, no... but sometimes I think maybe I should have went back to the office one or two days a week for my own sanity... I work from home and sometimes I miss the whole office thing...
But then I think that I would miss DD too, so who knows!

I work PT and that's the best mix I think. I am not cut out to be "mommy" 24/7. I need that break.

Yeah sometimes I do miss the office thing. I mean I was only a receptionist/secretary so it's not like I was giving up a manager or president position you know what I mean? The decision was a little easier for me.

I want to be there when DS does something for the first time. I want to go on all his class trips. I want to take him to school and pick him up.

I've had a lot of women tell me that I did the right thing in staying home with my little boy. They are like "and enjoy him everyday because boys grow up fast and when they do they act like they don't need mommy anymore"...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I don't have any regrets, but I do miss working sometimes. I have continued to do PT work for the company from home, but that's hard to do as well with 2 kiddies under my feet all day. I think if I ever go back FT, it will be in a totally different field of work (I was/am in engineering).

I don't miss anything really about working.....well, except for the social interaction. I miss my stress free lunches with friends, getting my nails done, etcChat Icon

I don't miss the work stresses or BS office politics....I don't feel that I'm not challenged or anything being home - I hear some women complain about that but I don't feel that way.

I was thinking of going back to work PT when DS gets older but we'll see how it goes. Maybe not during the early elementary school years cuz I want to be around for that.

i don't regret it because i'm sure i'll go back to work at some point when our kids are a little bit older. for me it's not a forever thing, probably just until they're in school. i do miss working occasionally, but i'd so much rather be at home with DS.

I couldn't have said it better myself!!!

Though having 1 in school does help with the adult interaction thing. You always know the SAHMs...we're the ones that never leave the parking lot...just keep blabbing away!! Chat Icon

The only thing I miss was the social interaction. I worked with people that I was really friends with, but I still get to see them when I go to the city for my doctor's appt. But I definitely don't miss the work, aggravation, and BS that went with it.

I am on maternity leave and I am going loopy right now. At first it seemed perfect...now I am feeling lonely at times. I am going back feb 12th but I will miss my baby so much. I am so tossed between my feelings but I could never stay home for my own sanity.

Regret? No. I missed it at first b/c I've never worked so hard in my life as I have since she's born but then something changed as I got the hang of it. And now that I'm back P/T I'm so disappointed that I can't spend all my time playing with her.
