for those of you considering or on the fence about cloth diapering. UPDATE! received the diapers from Jilians Drawers and OMG
I just ordered this from Jilliansdrawers.com.
it's a trial program..you pay $104 for a set of diapers of different brands. you use them for 21 days. you send everything back and you get a refund of $94.
I am excited about it b/c it seems like a good way to figure out which brand(s) I am going to like working with the most.
with cloth diapering, the initial investment is fairly steep, so this is great for me to figure out if I am putting my $$ in the right diaper right out the box (no pun intended )
perhaps someone else is interested in the program.
UPDATE:
I got the trial package from Jillian's Drawers this weekend. OMG...they are SOOOOO CUTE!
and I have to say that most of them seem to be fairly user friends...the Thirstie's brand all in one looks JUST like a disposable diaper. I am really hopeful about those and well as the kissaluvs.
the bum genius one size diapers might take a bit of getting used to, but I plan to diaper a few stuffed animals tonight until I get the hang I am not even going to bother trying the chinese prefolds. they don't really look that easy, though they ARE the cheapest option. *le sigh*
but seriously, I am REALLY hopeful about the ease at which we will be able to use these diapers.
they've come a long way baby. I'll update again once we use them on a live, crapping/peeing baby. but so far, definitely GOOD!

Sounds great, I just don't think that I would have the stomach for this. Pee-pee diapers ok, but poopies not so much!

I'm on my second baby with cloth and I love it. Not only better for his health and the environment, but super-cute, too!

I'm still trying to work up the nerve to do cloth this time. I already know what I'd use and how to do everything, I just can't seem to be able to take the plunge.
I hope you have a good experience!

Sounds great! but are they sending you diapers that have been previously tested out by other people? That would probably skeeve me a bit.

nope, they are brand new diapers. it behooves this companies to introduce moms to cloth...so I guess the freebie they each throw in is part of the cost of doing business and the hope of making you are returning customer.

yes, pretty please! so curious about these cloth diapers. Mom and MIL both used the dreadful old school diapers and look at me like an alien when I say I want to try them.

Everyone told me I was crazy when I said I wanted to use cloth, including DH. But I stuck to my guns and here we are, 9.5 months in. They are so easy to use. I was breastfeeding (which people also said I was crazy for wanting to do), and BM poop is completely water soluble, you just throw the entire diaper, poop and all, into the washing machine. If you don't want to do that, or are FFing, then bum genius makes this awesome diaper sprayer that attaches to the toilet. You just spray the diaper, and all the poop goes into the toilet. Now that they are older and have soild poop, it just plops in the toilet and you flush it. In actuality, you are supposed to do the same thing with poop in disposable diapers - human waste is not supposed to go into the garbage.
Anyway, if you are on the fence about it, definitely give it try!
