how do I tell him? How does one tell someone they've been out of it for weeks and now they have one leg?
Losing his leg may have saved his life. I can't imagine how difficult this is for all of you.
It may. The doc said that now all the toxins are out of his body and now all we can do is wait for his brain to respond. If he does, then he will have a life. If he doesn't respond after all this, then it will all be a moot point.
I know it may seem like the absolute worst thing possible, but it's definitely for the best. Like what was said above, it may be the thing that saves his life. The night before my Aunt had her leg amputated she was a mess. The toxins in her body were killing her. The night of her surgery I expected the worst. That she would be a mess... I walked in to her laughing, smiling...she felt amazing. Sure, there were days she would have given anything to have her leg, but losing it truly did save her life.
