So this... U.S. health officials say fully vaccinated Americans don't need to wear masks outdoors anymore unless they are in a big crowd of strangers
I hate to tell them this, but I never wore a mask outdoors unless I was in a big crowd of strangers. From day one.
So yeah, Ok
Yup, same.
I didn't realize we were supposed to wear masks outside unless in a big crowd.
But then again I was socializing inside in small groups unmasked before they said we could...
I know people who wore them outside with other people in small groups. Every time I would tell my mother we were doing this or that with friends, she would say you will wear a mask right? I said umm no. I would rather stay home then honestly.
This kinda reminds me of taking pics with masks on. I refuse to ever do that lol! Why would I even bother taking a pic if more than half of my face is covered up then?
Yep or the bride and groom kissing for pictures with masks on. I guess, that is the new thing to do? Smh

Ditto. I have not worn a mask outside all year. Not going to start now. Granted, I have not been in a big crowd of strangers. But this new CDC concession is like giving ice in the winter. And unless people walk around with their “passport” showing, it is meaningless. I think they just said this to maybe encourage more people to get the shot.
They want it to seem like they are giving you something. Yeah thanks, I'm good. Talk to me when I can burn the disgusting nasty masks permanently. Then I'm interested in hearing it.
I think it’s how the message is being passed on by the news and leaders and how it’s being perceived by the public (or at least some). That might be one of the reasons why there are people that will jog, drive (alone), etc while wearing a mask. The same goes for those that quickly assume that someone that it’s not wearing a mask is doing so because they don’t feel like wearing one, or the stores that have their signs saying “no one can enter the store without a mask”, when clearly the EO says “wear a mask only if medically tolerable”. That’s why stores like Walmart, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, etc changed the wording on their signs. Not to mention there were some people in other states filing lawsuits against supermarkets for not allowing them to shop without a mask.

Fully Vaccinated don’t need masks outside
Ultimately, isn’t it up to each state to really decide what your “allowed” to do? The CDC has no control, correct?
And for the record, I identify as a vaccinated American so I will not be wearing my mask outdoors lol

Yes these are recommendations, not laws. State mandates remain

I was in home goods on Sunday and they had huge signs up saying you must wear a mask to enter. No qualifiers, just that you had to be wearing a mask.
I can’t recall seeing anyone in a store without a mask but I was in a deli a few months ago and the worker refused to serve a customer without a mask.

Yep- Private businesses have every right to require whatever they want. Likes shirts and shoes for service. They can tell you to wear a chicken costume and you'd have to wear it because their store, their rules. That's why even in states like Texas where the governor lifted the mask mandate certain stores still require it. But if you have a TRUE medical exemption- I am not sure how that even works. Do you carry around a doctor's note?

You get some kind of form that you can have printed or in your phone signed by your doctor. I only know as I have a friend who will not wear a mask for medical reasons. He says he shows it to them if and when asked.
Funny with the no shirt or shoes comment. My husband wears sleeveless shirts in the summer. We went to a restaurant around us, small place and they would not allow them on men. It was a nice neat shirt, not trashy or red neck kind when you think of sleeveless lol. Basically because men have under arm air and women (usually) don’t. The place is so great they actually gave him a shirt they sell there and didn’t charge him. He offered a few times of course but their policy is no shirts like that. Of course now he knows but we probably were never there when the weather was warm enough for that attire. Places can pick and choose whatever they want and just like the masks. They can enforce it as much as they want also. Some are more lax than others of course.

See I can see a discrimination lawsuit saying -why should women be allowed in sleeveless- what if they choose not to shave their arm pits? So many things to unpack there- men who shave their pits- women who don't. Men who identify as women and vice versa. They are walking on shaky ground with that rule!

I have personally seen those signs and noticing the change in the wording. This was last year and I’m sure it has not changed. Interestingly enough I noticed this after the lawsuits were happening against businesses that require all customers to enter with masks only and not allowing those that claimed to have medical reasons for not wearing one. I figured these stores changed their signs because of these lawsuits. TJ Maxx have also a repeating announcement in their loud speakers that says the same...wear a mask if medically tolerable or something like that, don’t remember the exact words. I’ve seen those signs in HomeSense as well. I’ll remember to take a pic of the signs next time I’m at one of those stores and post it in here.

I guess it’d be different with requirements to wear a mask and having customers that can’t wear them for medical reasons?
This happened in PA
Restaurants and supermarkets are public accommodations so they are obligated to accommodate someone with a disability. Discriminating against a person with a disability is no joke so I can see how a business can potentially get in trouble for something like this.

So this... U.S. health officials say fully vaccinated Americans don't need to wear masks outdoors anymore unless they are in a big crowd of strangers
I hate to tell them this, but I never wore a mask outdoors unless I was in a big crowd of strangers. From day one.
So yeah, Ok
Yup, same.
I guess it’d be different with requirements to wear a mask and having customers that can’t wear them for medical reasons?
This happened in PA
Restaurants and supermarkets are public accommodations so they are obligated to accommodate someone with a disability. Discriminating against a person with a disability is no joke so I can see how a business can potentially get in trouble for something like this.
Yes, Medical exemptions should absolutely be honored. Just like with anything else. You can't discriminate against people with disabilities. I would hope no store is doing that if someone has a legit medical exemption to mask wearing.

Yep and my husband had to question it and that was the answer lol. Never even thought of it as we were just running around and stopped there and don’t remember any other place doing that. Lesson learned if we want to go there in the summer lol.

Ugh. I hope they don't bring those back again. I sold mine years ago because the feathers bothered my allergies and it made my ass look big.
Chicken costume without feathers...

“In all of our US stores, customers are required to wear face coverings except for young children and those with health conditions that prevent them from wearing a face covering or if a state or local exemption applies.”
From the TJMaxx website. They also own HomeGoods and HomeSense.

Re: Fully Vaccinated don’t need masks outside
It's getting warmer now, but I love wearing a mask outside in the cold temps. Keeps my face nice and warm. I hope people don't get mad if I continue doing so in future winters. As a matter of fact, where I work it's always freezing with the AC in the summer time and I've been joking for years I needed some kind of face warmer. I might continue to wear a mask to stay warm.

I have some nice, warm gaiters that I'm going to keep after the pandemic. I camp a lot, including the winter, and some of the masks will come in handy outside in the cold.
I also have a flame/spark resistant one that I got for welding, to keep my beard from catching on fire.

It's so true. When I pick DD up from school I'm sometimes waiting outside for 10 minutes. The masks really did help in the winter.

I use a scarf for that purpose.
