It's getting warmer now, but I love wearing a mask outside in the cold temps. Keeps my face nice and warm. I hope people don't get mad if I continue doing so in future winters. As a matter of fact, where I work it's always freezing with the AC in the summer time and I've been joking for years I needed some kind of face warmer. I might continue to wear a mask to stay warm.
That is maybe one of the only good things I have gotten out of masks lol.
I use a scarf for that purpose.
True. This winter I barely used a scarf since I worked from home.

Re: Fully Vaccinated don’t need masks outside
I have not participated on any of the COVID threads so flame away if this has been brought up and asked...
Disclaimer - I am fully vaccinated.
I thought as a vaccinated person I could still be a carrier of COVID? And isn't mask wearing for the protection of others? So I could be an asymptomatic COVID positive person, yet fully vaccinated, and a non-vaccinated person is allowed to hang out with me? Am I making sense and/or behind the times?
ETA: since I'm asymptomatic I wouldn't test so I would have no idea I'm positive.

Things keep changing but as for right now supposedly the cdc says if u’re vaccinated u can visit an unvaccinated person or one unvaccinated household without a mask, and no need for social distance.

I just feel like if I chose to not get vaccinated, and I chose to hang out with others without masks, than that's on me. You, the vaccinated person, shouldn't have to be responsible for my decisions or choices.

Oh girl, u know I share the same sentiment. It’s absolutely no one’s job to worry about my health and no one’s responsibility to feel the need to have a say on my decisions, not the government, not my neighbor, not a random person in LIF.

Yea I'm so confused. Never wore it outside .Didn't realize we "had" to. Always find it strange that people all alone outside wear it. Like I saw someone jogging with it. All alone. I don't get it. BTW I am all for people having different comfort levels but I just never understood this. People are celebrating like it's a huge victory. Am I missing something?

Re: Fully Vaccinated don’t need masks outside
I think it depends on where you are. In my area, people do wear them jogging/walking and biking. The trail I usually go on can get crowded and if you are running you never know when you will come upon a crowd.
I walk with a friend and we wear them, but I was thinking of ditching it this week anyway, as she is now fully vaccinated.
On city streets, people wear them because they can be crowded. The other night I wore mine from my car, a few blocks to my friend's apartment, because most other people were and because I needed to wear it in the building anyway. It was more a courtesy or accepted norm, than to protect myself.
If I were to go again this weekend, I probably wouldn't wear it. I know, it's silly, it's not like anything drastically changed in a few days.
They also mention that vaccinated people don't need to wear it for outdoor dining. I do wonder if establishments will still require it though. I have outdoor reservations for Friday--I wonder if they will changes the signage.
I am a little confused as to " crowded areas though" Does that include outdoor shopping, like nurseries and farmers markets? Those places all had signs last year, so I did wear a mask then. I guess I would go maskless unless they have signs?
So, to me, the benefit is more that hopefully outdoor businesses won't require them, based on this guidance.
My apt complex requires them "in all public areas including patios", so I do wear mine when I walk around the paths in my complex. I am hoping this encourages them to send an updated policy, but in the meantime, I won't wear them when I walk to throw the trash out.

Fully Vaccinated don’t need masks outside
Vaccinated people do not spread the virus. Even the head of the CDC said this. People in charge are twisting themselves into knots trying to figure out how to keep the fear and the mask mandates going. They refuse to give up their power. If you are vaccinated, there is no reason to wear a mask anywhere.

Fully Vaccinated don’t need masks outside
Yesterday I wore my mask outside at soccer practice. It wasn’t crowded. It was purely because tree pollen was high. I have terrible allergies and decided to give the mask a try. This morning I have a bad headache and all my other typical allergy symptoms. For the record, masks don’t help with the pollen haha

I wear my mask around unvaccinated people only because of the reports of rare breakthrough infections. But you are correct- as more time passes real world data is showing it is extremely unlikely a vaccinated individual would spread the virus. As I said on the other thread, I do not wear my mask mask alone or walking with just my DH or a friend. I will probably start lessening how often I wear it outside. As things get better I feel safer loosening my precautions.

I have no idea why it was an "exciting" announcement either. lol I've never worn a mask outdoors, not even when passing someone on the street outside because there is virtually no way to infect someone in the half a second you're walking past them. The recommendation was always to wear a mask outdoors only in crowds when you are unable to social distance, I've never really been in that situation so I never worried about masking up outdoors.

Yes and if you look at the mask order- at least in NY- it says when you can't be 6 feet apart. So I really do not get it at all. I think maybe people took it to an extreme

There are many who believed even if you were outside with people you needed to wear masks. I have friends on social media who would say I got to see my friends and we all wore masks and socially distanced.

Same in NJ. There are always a few who stay masked outdoors, to each his own, but I'd say most people have been unmasked outdoors especially for the last few months.

NOW can I question if someone if someone is fully vaccinated and still walking down the street alone or in their car alone?
Honestly, I don't know why someone would wear a mask when they're alone. But also, I honestly don't give a fk why they would either.
Some people are really sticklers for mask safety and won't remove the mask once they are alone for instance in their car or walking home from the store because they don't want to touch it and contaminate it. So they don't remove it until they can wash their hands.
My brother does this and it seems excessive. I carry hand sanitizer around and use it before I open my car or anything and then rip my mask off once I get inside.
ETA: I only ever wore a mask outside on a crowded street like walking from my bus to my office when I was at work.

NY adopted the CDCs guidance - which wasn't that different from previous guidance. So i didn't mask up last night at little league while I sat distanced with my family and a couple of friends.

Yup. My mother was all thrilled she could go to lunch with friends after vaccinated. I said to her how do you feel ok from one day to the next when you don’t even know if it will work or for how long? She has no answer so yes I DO ask people lol. People are turning into robots and just following these rules that many make absolutely no sense. Like you can have 10 people at your home. The 11th is going to kill everyone? Masks walking in a restaurant and to the bathroom but not seated. Dancing (which was just lifted today) at a wedding only with people at your table. I don’t live with these people or might not even know them so why can I only dance with them and not say my family whom I know from another table?

To reiterate, the vaccine WORKS. That is proven. For how long, we shall see. But there is no "IF" it works, that isn't in question so I don't understand why you keep saying that. As people, like your mom, are vaccinated it's only natural that they will feel more comfortable day after day resuming normal activities.
Everything else you mentioned is just precautions to minimize transmission among people. Those that follow guidelines aren't "robots", everyone is just trying to do their part to get things slowly back to normal.
Again, as more people are vaccinated the more these types of restrictions will be lifted. I would be surprised if any of these things were still in effect by the end of the year. The good news is, NOTHING feels like it did last year THANK GOD so I consider where we are at now progress.
