I tell DD not to be bold (instead of bad).
We say "bold" all the time instead of "bad"... usually referring to our dog though, not a child. LOL!
I don't know if this is an old one, but I say all the time "What on God's green earth..."

Re: Funny/old-time sayings - do you say any?
My Mom still asks for "high test" gasoline instead of Premium or whatever. Then, and this is the kicker, she'll add in "unleaded please".
UNLEADED?!!!
I still call Costco Price Club and I still call NUMC Nassau County Medical Center lol. It will always be the Medical Center!
I can't really think of anything else.

My grandmother used to say "Hot Burny, Burny" if something was too hot and I find myself saying that a lot and I even have DH saying it.

When we're hanging out, my Grampa says we're "dorkin around"
I always say:
it's six eggs to one half dozen
A person we don't like is called a "bugaboo"
Bees knees
its hotter than a whorehouse
dumb as a box of rocks
I see said the blind man to his deaf wife
Not my first rodeo
Lie like a rug
colder than a witch's titt

Re: Funny/old-time sayings - do you say any?
I'll still say "clicker" instead of "remote" once in a while. Ours really used to click.
For Nassau landmarks, I will use old names. Mid-Island Mall, Mid-Island Hospital, Nic-Mick (NCMC/NUMC), there's a restaurant in Levittown that hasn't been Caruso's since the early 80's but I still call it that.
Phrases:
Pee like a racehorse
Beat you like a redheaded stepchild (have NO idea where that came from)
Squeaky wheel gets the grease
Peachy keen jelly bean
Hotter than Hades
Throwing the baby out with the bathwater
Putting the cart before the horse

Re: Funny/old-time sayings - do you say any?
"We'll cross that bridge when we come to it"
"You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a _________"
And finally, an example used in context:
"I haven't had McDonalds SINCE GRANT TOOK RICHMOND."

Re: Funny/old-time sayings - do you say any?
My students are always over my sayings...
When I teach history I'll use...
"While the cats away (mother country) the mice will play (colony)"
"The squeaky wheel gets the oil"
I think half of the conversations I had with my grandmother and dad were "sayings"...
I use so many of the above and am so familar with them I can't even think of them...
one of my favs from Grandma...
"S/He needs to take a long walk off a short pier"
I have so many more but after two glasses of wine I'm

Re: Funny/old-time sayings - do you say any?
suitcases are "valices" according to my grandpa.
Instead of saying, my friend is coming to visit, I'll say my girlfriend is coming in. All my friends are my "girlfriends'.
ohh... I went to call 411 to get the number to call for broadway show tickets. I asked for "ticketron" and the operator started laughing. She said- you mean ticketmaster. I always call it ticketron.
