Gassy baby - formula to blame
DD is currently on enfamil newborn powder formula. She was doing fine until the past few days - since she increased her amounts, eating more the past few days and now she gets very bad gas that smells horrible and seems rather uncomfortable, and spitting up a bit more than she had been. I have a can of similac sensitive that I got as a sample but I'm leery of changing her formula like that. She will be a month old next week. We've tried gas drops but they don't work...

Re: Gassy baby - formula to blame
Maybe try the enfamil version of gas sensitive formula? My one twin had the same issue but they wanted her to stay with the same brand. Every ped is different. Ask the ped. They usually have samples to give you too. Also I heard the rtf is less gassy. Did you try changing bottles? I didn't find gas drops worked for my dd in the beginning but I just started giving them every bottle and I think it helps.

Re: Gassy baby - formula to blame
I love the playtex ventair bottles, the air doesn't build up so DD swallows a lot less air. I put gas drops in every bottle as per my ped. Burp frequently.
When you switch to a different formula try mixing half the old with half the new for a little bit to help LO get adjusted. Hope she's doing better.

Gassy baby - formula to blame
Its not necesarrily her increase in formula... Many babies start to become colic (gas, reflux symptoms, more crying/fussing) at that three week mark. I know two of mine became different babies at that time! I wouldn't change anything until u talk to ur ped. if she seems uncomfortable she may need a change. All babies have gas and a degree of reflux. Their digestive systems need time to mature. But some babies have it more severe then others and may need an intervention in the meantime. There is a possibility she is reacting to the milk in the formula as well. Also make sure u are working the gas out of her after each feeding (burping massage). My babies aren't good burpers bc they are breastfed but I still take time trying to move that gas up and out. When I went for my month checkup my son was extremely gassy and uncomfy. the first thing my ped suggested was to cut out dairy. That's where I am now trying to figure out if its helping:).good luck!
