Re: geico sent me a letter........
i would call them and ask to speak with a supervisor/manager. if you've been a customer w/ them for a while maybe they'll change their mind.

Re: geico sent me a letter........
Wow, I'm shocked they would drop you for 2 tickets.
I have Liberty Mutual. Great price, have had an accident, got a couple of tickets, never had a threat of being dropped.
Maybe you can call and dispute it. But, before you do that I'd shop around and see if anyone is offering a better quote anyway.

Re: geico sent me a letter........
hmm...that stinks. i was with geico and i had a lapse in insurance, a suspended lisc. and registration due to it and they took me back. I ended up switching to progressive, b/c i got a better rate anyways.

Re: geico sent me a letter........
call and find out about taking the 5 hour class. that removes certain types of points from your record... maybe that would help- plus it gives you 10% (or 15%) off of your insurance bill usually.

Re: geico sent me a letter........
Since you haven't held insurance under your name for 3 years and have two tickets to your record, you might be looking at a tougher task. Try Progressive because they tend to take people with points on their license rather than clean licenses.
Also, take Defensive Driving. Call Geico and provide proof you're enrolled, see if they can do anything for you.
If that doesn't work, try State Farm and see if you can find a broker that will shop you around to different places.
And stop talking on the phone while you drive.

totally take the defensive driving course...its an automatic 10% discount off your insurance per year.
unfortunately--having your own insurance for just under 2 years and getting 2 tickets this year---geico looked at your record and thought of you as too high of a risk. you can try to speak to a manager or representative, but chances are it won't do much good.
like others said--check out state farm. perhaps even progressive.

Re: geico sent me a letter........
I've never followed through with a quote so I'm not sure how accurate it is. They'll probably pull your motor vehicle record first and will see the tix.
Defensive driving is one day and will save you money over the next three years. Who knows, with that discount, you might break even on the insurance.
Libraries typically hold classes. Good luck.

This is what I plan on doing. I'm with Travelers. Got my very first freakin' ticket last week. I believe I do get points on my license. I am def. going to take the course to knock them off.
Good Luck to you.

Yes, Geico is like that. They drop people like crazy. It's how they can keep their rates lower/competitive. My DH is in the car business and hears about this all the time.

Re: geico sent me a letter........
We did an online quote with Geico and it was spot on when we called to take them up on the offer. Sorry they are dropping you though! Defensive Driving is the way to go though - that will take the points off your license and give you a 10% discount.

really? And I thought they were really good. I know Allstate drops people like crazy!
I have been on Geico for over 15 years and have had my own policy for about 10. I personally love them.
Our car got hit while parked in Manhattan one night. It was not my fault, I was parked legally. When the claim was processed Geico evaluated my policy and actually LOWERED my rate by about $400 b/c I had never had an accident claim in over 10 years and they "just noticed that".
I never knew they dropped people easily.

Re: geico sent me a letter........
They are doing that because of the talking on the cellphone. Some insurance companies drop you immediately because of that

Re: geico sent me a letter........
How long ago did you get those two tickets,( which are both MOVING VIOLATIONS)?
Your insurance will most certainly be higher w/any agent that you go with. Especially if you're in a high-risk (age/location/type of car) bracket. I would recm'd looking into other insurance companies ASAP, in hopes that their systems haven't updated to reflect the two tickets, and that Geico is dropping you.

You should actually call your insurance company every couple of years if you've been clean and demand they lower your rates. Geico has different tiers of rates depending on risk factors and they can usually put you in a better tier if you have "redeemed" yourself after accidents, tickets, etc.

Re: geico sent me a letter........
I was with Geico for less than a year. In Jan of 06 I totaled my one car. In june of 06 I had my car broken into and the total for that was 6k. I was never threatened and have 3 cars insured with them now. I would say try and speak with someone over at Geico.

I never knew that but I was impressed they did this for me, without my prompting.

It's worth a try. But they even use credit reports, payment history, # of years driving, zip code, etc. as criteria to drop you/keep you.
It's probably a computer that probably spits out that information. Maybe if you speak to a person and plead your case, it would help. Is everything else in order - have you ever had late payments, is your credit good?

Re: geico sent me a letter........
Really? That should not be a reason for cancellation, esp the ticket for driving with cell phone, its NOT a moving violation.
I work for a ins company..I could run it and give you a quote...could help.
