Well mostly due to the 1inch of ice below the snow and the fact we don't have salters here.
Still.. CLOSED!

Schools are closed
My office is closed
Jim's office called and said "wait" because they are amazed he was ready to leave.
Major highways are shut down
Airport has cancellations galore, with expectations of no movement until noon
Word is. DON"T DRIVE

A friend lives in Austin - they are all closed too. The news is telling everyone to stay inside, it's too dangerous to drive - 1" of snow. She's having a huge laugh - just moved there last month from Long Island.

OMG....I have friends that live there... So crazy how different cities handle a storm  Im sure Buffalo people cant believe the NYC delays/closures lol

Its so much fun. Every news channel is non stop.. TONS of accidents
Lots of photos coming in with people writing "Snow 2-4-11" on cars and sidewalks. Kids outside playing. Making South Texas Snowmen (which means its 6inchs tall - max)
Yeah totally different.
I was tempted to take AJ out in the 'snow' but she's happily watching the news. She has a bit of a cough and I don't feel like bundling her up to just get her all rowdy then she won't want to come in and I'll be freezing my fatty tissue off in 22 degree weather! haha

You are so right about the folks from Buffalo, with most of the snow we get he just shakes his head. But he says a majority of it is bc compared to Buffalo our prepardness and resources don't compare.
And to the OP .... that is funny. Enjoy your snow day!

OMG that is too funny!!
When DH & I lived in MD, they closed the schools for VERY little snow. It was crazy how quick they were to close everything for something so little, but they just weren't prepared (not enough plows).
It was actually in DH's favor b/c he had about 3 1/2 weeks off from school from December to February

So funny! It's all about how prepared the area is for snow. There's no reason for San Antonio to have salt spreaders during a "normal" winter.

hahaha, that is awesome! two of my good friends moved to temple, tx for work (LI transplants)...they said the hospital they work at shut down except for emergencies when they had 2 inches of snow....and most of them drive SUV's too

Umm Dallas has been closed all week due to ice But we legitamitely got a good snowfall last night, around 5inches. This was this morning with snow still falling.
