Re: Girls 36+ weeks working till the end
I know exactly how you feel. I'm 36 weeks and trying to work until the end because I only get 6 weeks off and want to spend them all with the baby. I was fine until this wednesday when i started feeling pain in my legs. The pain in non-stop. It's this achy feeling that is present regardless of whether i am sitting or standing. My feet are swollen and yesterday my fingers were too. I feel so tired by the end of the day. I don't want to do anything. I feel bad because I don't make dinner nor to I do things around the house. I've started wondering whether I'll make it to the end while still working.

Re: Girls 36+ weeks working till the end
I am no longer pregnant but I can totally relate. I worked up until the day DS was born and was exhausted all the time. Sometimes breathing felt like a chore. if you can take some days before the baby comes, I highly recommend you do so. I wish I would have.

Re: Girls 36+ weeks working till the end
First of all, why are you worried about YOU making dinner? Get DH to do it!!!
I had planned on working til my water broke. I guess I kind of did. At week 34 I was at work and hell broke loose. They put me on modified bedrest til baby came. I was so upset because I got NO paid maternity leave. Not even one week. I had no idea what we were going to do. I wasn't even sure how we would go weeks AFTER delivery, but when we had to come up with no pay BEFORE delivery, I was so stressed!!!!!!!!!!!! We made it work.
It will work out!!!!!

Re: Girls 36+ weeks working till the end
i was planning on working until the end, but 2 days ago my doctor told me to stop working at 37 weeks. but because of my commute to downtown brooklyn. before i stopped i had the same problem. my feet looked like they would explode! DH had no choice but to cook dinner if he wanted to eat. just take care of urself.

Re: Girls 36+ weeks working till the end
At almost 34 weeks, I just am now understanding how unpleasant it will be to work up until my due date. Last night I came home and my legs were swollen up until my knees, it hurt really bad and I thought to myself....how am I going to survive at work that long....I don't have a choice though.

Re: Girls 36+ weeks working till the end
I stopped yesterday at 39wks 5 days. Even though I sit in front of the computer all day it is difficult because I've developed carpel tunnel in both hands not to mention the constant back pain.

Re: Girls 36+ weeks working till the end
Im 36 weeks...my last day of work is 10/9 which puts me at 38 weeks. My feet are swollen so bad at the end of the day its awful..and now its going up to my legs. I have an almost 2 hr commute each way so from 10/9 they're setting me up to work from home.
i feel the same as you, i cant function anymore and there's so much to do..not enough hours in my day to do it.

Re: Girls 36+ weeks working till the end
I am almost 34 wks and work on my feet all day. Some days I just feel like crying b/c I'm so tired. I can relate to the swollen feet. I get home late also but DH makes dinner. I wonder how I'm going to make it to the end. I also only have 6 wks maternity leave (with no pay) so I have to work till the end both b/c financial reasons and b/c I want to spend time with the baby.
Glad to see I'm not alone. I've been trying to just suck it up but I guess its hard on all of us.

Re: Girls 36+ weeks working till the end
Yeah, it's tough and gets harder every day. I am 36 wks and can't imagine working until 40 weeks! I am just taking it one day at a time - if it gets too tough, I will either arrange to work from home, or take vacation days.
Work is so busy for me this time of year, that it keeps me occupied and focused from the minute I walk in to the minute I leave. I am thankful for the distraction, but I just don't know if my body will hold up.

I thought I was going to work up until the day I gave birth...but I went out at 37.5 weeks...just b/c I couldn't fit behind the wheel of my SUV...

Re: Girls 36+ weeks working till the end
Originally I planned to work to the end, but I think Friday will be my last day (I'll be 39W2D at that point). I have taken a day off each of the past two weeks also and that has definitely helped.
Good luck!

Re: Girls 36+ weeks working till the end
I just turned 39 wks today and I'm still working. I do sit at a desk all day-but my feet are swollen from the minute I get up in the morning. I have about an hour drive each way-so that worries me a little. I also wanted to clean my house good one last time before the baby comes but it doesn't seem like that will happen. If the baby doesn't come before my due date(next sunday I will probably not come to work the next day (next monday)that's when I put my leave in from.
