Going to gym early and safety

My gym is 24 hours. I leave for work at 630 due to traffic. I would be at gym really really early. Still dark out and empty I'm worried about safety in parking lot. Any tips

I always hold my keys in my hand - panic button ready and ready to charge Chat Icon

A small can of pepper spray that attaches to your keychain.

Re: Going to gym early and safety

I've had the same concerns at the yoga studio I go to, because I get out around 9:30 at night and the parking lot can be empty and dark at that hour. I try to make sure I walk out behind other people and try to find a spot near a light.

I know it's going to probably get crowded in the New Year with people and their resolutions so I may have to park on the street which makes me a lot more nervous because it's a residential area.

I think just trying to be aware of your surroundings is the best thing you can do overall.

I hold my keys a certain way that if someone comes behind me I can just whip it in their face. Lol. And I park super close to the door. I go in before 6 am.

I back up into a well lit parking space even if its not the closest to the door. I also have auto start so my head and mirror lights come on.

Do not wear headphones entering or exiting gym you need to be aware of your surroundings.

That's happened to me at night sometimes when I go after it's dark & DH doesn't feel like going. I have to park on the street, my gym has no parking lot, so I try to park in a well-lit spot, not too far away from the gym. I walk quickly with my key in my hand, look around & make sure noobody is following me, and lock the doors as soon as I get into the car. It can be scary!

i go at 530 am and keep my key in hand - ready to slash a face if need be Chat Icon but at 530 am, the parking lot is empty and I am pretty much parked in the first spot ... 12 feet from the front doors.
