good school districts in Nassau
I live in Westbury and am on the border line of Carle Place.
Bec the schools are just so-so in Westbury and they are the best in Carle Place, my dream move would be to move my house (which love more than anything) 4 doors down to the Carle Place district...
But if I cannot find a home in Carle Place, where are the good/best school districts in Nassau????
I also considered moving to Floral Park - the west end section - I love that little area..
Taking all & any suggestions with a good school district rep!
My 3 yr old DD is starting St. Aidan's (Williston Park) Nursery Program and have two years until she is in kindergarten and am ready to send her to Catholic grammar school if I have to, but looking for other options!
Thanks so much!

Re: good school districts in Nassau
Im Not positive,
But I believe...
East Williston, Garden City and Great Neck, Jericho and Syosset... and I think Roslyn too are really good schools... The only thing is these are def in higher end house market... I def can't afford that now hahaha lol...
I think Carle place schools are def good in a more reasonable priced neighborhood...

Re: good school districts in Nassau
There is a section of New Hyde Park that is actually in the Great Neck School district. I would check that out for a slightly more affordable option with a great school district. Syosset is cheaper, but a much longer trip to Manhattan.

I live in Westbury - Carle Place school district and I absolutely understand why you would want to stay in the area. I grew up in CP and once DH and I were married, we bought a house here. There are so many houses for sale right now and the prices are lower than they've ever been. There are 3 houses for sale in my neighborhood alone.
Good Luck and I hope you find somethig soon!!

What are some other things you are looking for? What is your commute like, which area do you want to concentrate on.

I live in Floral Park and it has a great school district. I live very close to stewart manor. The west end is so quaint and beautiful with all the trees. Floral Park is a hidden treasure!

Herricks is also very good--there are affordable houses in Williston Pk and Albertson that go to this district.
Districts like Herricks, Jericho, Great Neck, RVC, are all GREAT school districts but also very, very competetive in regards to grades.

I am so jealous! That is ideally where I want to live! I consider that my town anyway..my pizza, my dry cleaner, my nails, etc are all in that town...we even joined Our lady of Hope Church bec it is closer and much more my style than St. Brigid's! We have looked at a couple of houses for sale in Carle Place! I am hoping my dream house pops up there! =)

Re: good school districts in Nassau
If you're looking for Carle Place schools some parts of Mineola are that district. I'm Mineola Schools but 2 blocks away is Carle Place schools.
From what I've heard the Mineola schools are good. DH's cousin, who's a teacher has kids in their schools (one who gets special services) and has no complaints.
I think I might send DD to St. Aidens nursery school next Sept. - that's our parish and then Mineola Schools after.

I grew up in Carle Place and moved to Salisbury section of Westbury. It is E Meadow Schools, but Clarke HS, not E Meadow. Its great. Lower taxes then CP and more affordable homes.

honestly, with few exceptions (like Roosevelt which was taken over by the state), most of the SD in Nassau County are great to excellent.

Re: good school districts in Nassau
for those who live in Floral Park (i love!), are you allowed to have a pool?I heard that you aren't allowed, which is a deal breaker for me but im hoping that isn't true.
I also love Stewart Manor, but I've heard the same thing about there.
Anyone know?

Not sure about Stewart Manor but Floral Park residents can have a pool as long as it meets village codes. Also there is a great town pool which is for residents only, like a country club. My friend raves about the pool and how great it is for her children.

Re: good school districts in Nassau
Manhasset is very good too.
I'd just like to add something, and I'm sure this happens everywhere, but DH has a ton of teachers in his family so I hear about it frequently. Many of them work in HS's in the towns mentioned and in a lot of these high-profile districts, students are given grades they did NOT earn b/c the parents complain and get them changed. If the teacher doesn't comply, they're reprimanded by the administration, so for the sake of keeping their job they listen.
In a lot of these areas, there are people with a ton of pull and power. I just know that as a student I'd feel very discouraged if I was working my rear off to earn an A, and the same A was given to some slacker after a phone call from Dad.
