I "adopted" a 2 yr. old through the JC Penny Angel program as well.
He asked for clothes, a coat and 2 toys...alphabet blocks and the FP pull along puppy. Of course I bought more. My heart breaks thinking of a child not having the basic necessities.
Do we drop off all the gifts unwrapped or are we supposed to wrap them?

On that website you search by zip code, so I found someone .3 miles away from me.
Excellent! I didn't know you could do that!! I always go through my friend because she volunteers for them.

I think if you do it through JCP they ship it for free, no? That's the commerical on TV...
Correct. I couldn't order through JCP because the wish list was for diapers and wipes, so I ordered everything on BRU but just shipped it to the address listed in the email the salvation army sent to me for my angel.
I went online too and was able to find an angel 3 miles away from where I live.

I'm definitely signing us up for this tonight. It's our first holiday season married and living together, and this will be a wonderful tradition to start.
I love that it allows you to help seniors. I had no idea that the program also helps seniors!

I am working with my DD's pre-K class through the Parish Outreach to adopt a family for Christmas. Their needs are so basic, it breaks my heart. I love how my kids are shopping for those who can't afford to give the basic needs to their kids for Christmas. And I don't know what to tell them when they ask why can't Santa just bring it all to them

Thank you for posting this -- you are probably creating a lot of traffic for them! I signed up to help a 6 year old girl. My daughter is 5 and I just can't imagine not being able to spoil her rotten. I'm sure this girls deserves it too.

I just signed up too - 1 and 3yr old boys. I'm going to take my kids shopping for their gifts, so they can start to understand that not everyone is as fortunate as them.
(when I did a "senior" search in my area, I was getting 23yrs olds requesting MP3 players, watches and designer bedding  )

you can send stuff from any store/site, and you can drop off also. The only advantage of using JCP's site is free shipping (which isnt hard to find elsewhere).

This post was a wonderful and very much needed reminder that most of us are very blessed. We take for granted the things we have and there are those out there who need basic necessities.
I was in tears reading through the kids that made wishlists. I can't take it. But it inspired me to adopt a few angels...the LEAST i can do this season.

I had never heard of this until you posted!
I just signed up for an 8yr old girl in the city I teach in who needs clothes and wants a backpack and books.
How could I NOT help out? I also posted the link on Facebook hoping to inspire more people to help out!
I just wish I could see her reaction when she gets her gifts on Christmas!

I keep seeing the JCP commercials for this and I keep meaning to do it, so thankfully this post reminded me while I was actually on the computer..
I have a 1 year old boy that all he needs is clothes, no "wants"
So I start looking on JCP's website bc its free shipping if you do it through them and I honestly want to buy EVERYTHING on there for him!  He'll definitely get taken care of but I know no matter how much it is I wont feel like it's enough.
OK, now that Im struggling to hold back my tears Im going back to shopping for him...

I just got a 2 month old baby boy angel. All the mommy wanted was clothing. Really sad. I used the onsave30 coupon code and got 30% off plus free shipping from Old Navy. I was able to send a TON of clothing for like $60. I feel bad though that I didn't send an extra toy or something b/c they don't have that stuff at ON. Maybe I can Amazon a 2nd package.
