Grand jury duy?
I got called to appear today in downtown brooklyn. It is really bad timining, can I just skip and write a letter?

Thanks! I figured that. It is just they want me to appear at 1pm and there is no way I will be back in time to get my kiddies!

Thanks! I figured that. It is just they want me to appear at 1pm and there is no way I will be back in time to get my kiddies!
Tell them that when you go and you will be exempted (as long as they are all under 16). They may require you to bring proof of your children's ages (like their birth certificates), so bring the BCs along with you to be safe.

Call the number on the summons. I got one to serve in Mineola today & I called last week & told them I needed to reschedule. They told me to send in a letter & if I didn't hear anything then I didn't have to show & consider myself postponed. If you call though, you can do it over the phone. Tell them you are a caregiver for children under 16, you get excused.
