Granite Counter Tops
Where did you get yours from? We were originally planning on going through Lowes, but we're not 100% sure since we haven't really looked elsewhere.

Usually better pricing direct with a stone yard. We just worked with Stone World in Farmingdale. Very accomodating.
About 10 years ago when we were doing our first kitchen - we went with a granite distributor through Home Depot - and learned that they charge you by the square foot - whereas a granite place will charge by the square inch. That means that if you need 12' 1" - at Home Depot we'd pay for 13' - - which is a lot of waste. When we did our second kitchen, we didn't go the Home Depot/Lowes route for the countertop and paid way less for a way bigger kitchen.
(Not sure if this scenario still proves true today - but was a lesson for us in the early days of homeownership and renovations. We're now on our fifth house and kind of have it down to a science for us.)

We used Roma Granite in Ronkonkoma over the winter, they did a great job. We checked out 6 companies including lowes. Roma had a great selection and included a lot in their price and didn't nickel and dime us for small things like the edging we wanted like most companies did.
