Yay for Gus!!!!!!!!! I was thinking about you thsi morning on the train, thinking about Prozac for dogs, and just hoping things would turn out ok for you and Gus. Sounds great!!!!! It is so clear how much you love your dog, it comes through in how you write about him.

This is our thoughts exactly! He has always been the alpha, but with other dogs that assert quiet domonence(?) he is VERY laid back and submissive. Here's hoping that Tank can teach him and Roka can run his energy out. If you have ever watched The Dog Whisperer Tank is JUST like Daddy. I am hoping it works! No calls yet so Keith made it into the house ok after work and THAT is a miracle in itself.
Yes, ,I do watch the dog Whisperer and that is why I felt that there is always hope. I do think your dog may be much better in a pack than with just you and your DH and child. My male dog is so much more submissive to other dogs than people and he does better with a group of dogs, so I can understand entirely.
I am so admirable of you for exhausting ALL options as a loving dog owner.
I am praying that they say he did great and that they are committed for the rest of their and his life, to being his owners. It truly sounds like you hit the jackpot. I was praying so hard that God would help you and your dog out and I do believe a miracle has happened. And for them to give you periodic updates, how much better can it get?
ETA - Did you know.... someone posted on the pets board that Daddy, Ceasar's dog, passed away.

I heard....Joe came up stairs crying because he loves that show and to be honest I think some of the issues we have/had are because he was to aggorant to admit he was not Cesar. His heart was always in the right place, but with work, school, and a horrible pregnancy we just couldn'tr work withhim the way he needs. We decided that when we're done having children and our last is about 8 we'll get another dog, but until then we can't do this again and we'll have cats. I feel so bad for Daisy our cat...she is walking aorund the house ccrying and sleeping in his bed. I just don't know how to help her

I know how hard this was for you!!!! I am so glad that Gus is in a place where he can be himself!
We often forget that animals are just that animals. They don't have the ability to reason and often times may not be matched with the right home!

As you know, in time Daisy will adjust. Poor girl.
I agree, def best to wait until children are older at this point before getting another dog. They truly are like children, who may act out when there is stress and change in the household. And yes, i do believe we always have some responsibility when an animal acts out, esp in a new situation (such as a new baby in the house, etc). My male dog is in desperate need of exercise, but with the weather and now the lack of space in my home with DDs large stuff all around, it's almost impossible so I keep this in mind when he acts out due to nervous pent up energy aggression.
Can you please please please keep us posted? I am truly happy for you, that you didn't have to put him down, b/c I can tell you really love your dog and that would have been so traumatic for you and your dog. I do believe these people who are adopting your dog were found as a result of your love, dedication, hard work (and some divine intervention).

Please keep us updated on Monday. This made me tear up, what a horrible position for you to be in, I am so so glad that there may be hope for Gus. It sounds like all means of rescue may be exhausted before he is put down.
Which is the best anyone can do and hopefully it all works!!

NO ONE wants to put their dog to sleep when they love it like you do.
I am so happy that Gus (and your heart) is getting a reprieve!!!!
