Re: Has anyone painted their countertops?
Posted by Mici C Thanks Mel. I did forget to post the link. My bad. Sorry!
This does sound great. The one in HD only came as a can of tint, not a whole kit. It seems it will take similar amount of time to get it done so I'd still have to do it in pieces. I'll have to check out Lowes since we have a GC!
GC always work for me! If you guys use the product, make sure you take before, during and after pics and tell us all about it. I would love to hear all about it. The apartment we have in our house could really need this too and this seems like a great thing to use instead of replacing right now.

sounds like Lowe's might be sold out of this product soon if all your ladies take on this project. But that is awesome. I hope it's a great product and Mici likes how it turns out. It has to be better then pink or green in some cases.

Re: Has anyone painted their countertops?
can't thank you all enough for posting about these two products. we aren't going to be able to redo our kitchen for at least a year and both of these might just work on our nasty laminate counter!

Re: Has anyone painted their countertops?
Call me one of the Pink Ladies too. I posted about it when we first moved in, asked if anyone had done this and no one had.
I am SO glad you're going to do this. We're not ready to upgrade either and I'd love to tone down the pink in the kitchen!!
I will be looking for updates!

Re: Has anyone painted their countertops?
Well we went to Lowes today and picked up the stuff! We got the charcoal color. We have light wood cabinets so we thought this would look good. Just FYI it's about $250 for the box. You also need to buy specific brushes/rollers too. With tax you're looking at just under $300.
The box comes with a DVD so I'm going to watch it tomorrow and hopefully start the process on one of my counters. I have 3 areas and it says you can't really use the counters for a week, so I'll have to do it in sections.
While DH and I were there, we ran into Rose825! It was nice to meet you!

Re: Has anyone painted their countertops?
I dont mean to be a Negative Nancy at all but my concern is that if you have to use a harsh scrub to remove anything stuck to the counter, will that remove the paint as well?
I ask this because my old roommate and I decided to spray paint his old stove top from yellow to black with high heat stove top paint years ago and it worked out great until food got caked on it and when trying to scrub it off, the paint came off as well. It turned out looking awful and we had to just replace the stove top al together.
I hope this works out great for you because I have Formica as well and I am very interested. Good luck!!

Re: Has anyone painted their countertops?
This is a great idea. But I'm concerned with using a product like this with a child around the house and I hate the idea of parts of my kitchen being out of commission for 7 days. Hmmmm...guess it will be a week of take out & paper plates!

It was nice meeting you too. My husband was like they have pink countertops too, and I thought what are the chances so I had to ask.
We have little counterspace so I think for us formica will be cheaper. I was a little at the price.

It's a bit different from just paint. We also selected to dark color. You're also able to touch up spots if anything happens.
