Re: Have you ever been at the point? (weight related)

I had to get to this point or I would be anorexic or bulimic. I have health issues and I just hold onto all water and at 5 ft weigh 145 pounds (yup I said it) but wear a size 6 since its not "fat" just water retentionChat Icon I get down on myself all the time but recently i started to just say F*** it becuase it is out of my control. I remember my size 2 body and I get depressed but I also look at my kids and realize its a journey I took to get them here so there are truely bigger things than weight.

Re: Have you ever been at the point? (weight related)

I used to obsess about my weight all the time. And there were times I just gave up and ate whatever I wanted - and that's when I crept up to a size 12 and was unbelievably unhealthy.

About 6 months ago hubby confronted me and confessed that he was worried about my unhealthy relationship with food and my body, and what effect it would have on my body longterm, and what kind of impact it would make on my daughter.

That's when I shifted my focus from my weight, to my health. I do obsess now about what I eat and how much exercise I get, but not with the goal of losing an extra 5lbs. My only goal now is to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

For me, at least, it became a lot easier and a lot less burdensome, when I made that mental shift. Of course, a significant weight loss came with it, but that just felt like a nice little added benefit, not the end goal.

I have a real issue with my weight! The sad thing is that I am about a size 2 and still see *fat* when I look in the mirror. I hate my body, and hate my muscular legs ... and just about anything on my body that accentuates a curvy body!

It's so bad, I know it is but I grew up in a house where I was told that I am never to be fat...and will never be happy if I am fat!!!

Now as an intelligent adult, I know all that is not true but i just wish I could be slimmer. I monitor everything I eat and when I train for races the real issue arises because I am hungry ALL the time and need the energy from food.

It's awful...I feel your pain...and try to remind myself everyday that I am ok just the way I am.

Not really. Because I used to think that way and I was 232 lbs. So, I know what it feels like to not be in control and not care what I eat. And I didn't liek how I felt. So....

thats me w/calories and I'm a size 6 Chat Icon Chat Icon it s&cks. I'm small framed but I got plenty of meat on me.

Advice I've gotten from "skinny minnies" is that I probably just don't want it bad enough (being thinner/toned). And its true...I enjoy drinking (when I'm not preggo) and I enjoy my ice cream, cookies and candy waaay too much to be any thinner. Oh well, I'll hold onto the extra 10-15lbs and enjoy life....and then feel fat and guilty after Chat Icon

That's sort of me. I have about 4 more pounds to get to my goal, but I enjoy drinking way too much. I am not really a cake, cookie or ice cream eater, but I don't turn it down b/c of the calories.

I obsess during the week and exercise a lot, and on the weekends I enjoy. It has worked, but the weight comes off slooooowww. I don't mind, I can't deny myself of everything and make a total change- then the weight won't stay off.

I feel that way. I was plus-sized, very close to 200 lbs and got down to a size 8. Despite that, I still wasn't satisfied and yet, I just can't seem to get my weight to go any lower. I wish I could just be happy here and proud of how much I accomplished Chat Icon

Where you just want to say f*ck it? I'm SO tired of obsessing, dieting, feeling guilty when I skip a day at the gym or want to eat pizza. A size 8 isn't even BIG, so why can't I just calm down and live life without mentally calculating how many points everything is worth? UGH.

yes, I am there now.

I am a little bigger than I "like" but I don't look awful.

I workout when I can, and I eat what I want but try to be sensible and take care of my body (excessive dieting isn't taking care of your body, as much as excessive eating is not)

am I supermodel slim...No. but I am happier now on a whole..NOT obsessing, than I have ever been at any point in my life. do I LOVE the fact that I have bigger thighs...maybe not..but hte reality is they are always proportionally bigger than the rest of me...my boobs look great...my waist is still an "acceptable" size (though I am known to freak about my lower abs when bloated) lol, and I don't have killer collarbones like I used to (meaning like they were sharp enough to kill)

I am aiming to dress the body that I have...keeping my running going and extending my time/miles/ability....if I drop a few pounds in the process, great...but it will be while eating pasta for dinner...and having chocolate a few times a week.

the idea is to be happier ON A WHOLE. and for me...bigger is better.

That's kind of where I am now.
I was never a dieter in HS or college--I was meduim, and my wait didn't fluctuate much, so I jsut ate whatever I wanted. I wish I would have cared more then, so I wouldn't be this way now.

I went through a phase when I was in my early 20s, and my size 10 clothes were getting tight, where I did obsess, and I was miserable, and nothing really worked anyway, so I gave up I've gone in completely the other direction. Chat Icon Chat Icon

But your a runner, muscular legs are a sign of strength! When I see muscular legs on a runner i'm envious, it means they work hard at the sport and they are stronger than someone without it.

And I have to say the one time i felt great about my body was when i was training for a marathon last summer. I felt such a pride in how stong it was and how much it could endure. i didn't even lose that much weight but i felt so much fitter. And i could eat what i wanted (within reason) and not worry about gaining and that made me so much happier!

Re: Have you ever been at the point? (weight related)

I totally obsess and aways will, especially since I need to ose 20 lbs.

I don;t mean to be rude, but for someone who is so obsessed and picky about their food/weight, why would you post pictures of your body barely clothed on a public forum. Don;t get me wrong, I think you look great, but I find it odd that you feel so self conscious but then post such body revealing pics. You must feel somewhat good about yourself to post them, I know you said you had airbrushing done, but how much? Chat Icon
