I've had a couple of time where my eyes got a little red when i've had the patient or family crying to me, but i haven't actually crier at work.. yet. Though, i did have the crying session in my car the day of my first code. It wasn't even the code that scared me- it was just the overwhelming feeling i had all day because i never felt like i was able to get back on track. I was proud of myself though- that happened at 8 AM and i made it through the whole day, got out a few mins late, got out just before 8PM, and that was when i started crying in my car (and, yes, i agree- the crying and driving thing doesn't work too well- i had to sit in the parking lot for 10 mins b/c i couldn't even see straight)


Coincidentally, my eyes are very sensitive and always irritated, so they always look a little red or glassy- luckily, my coworkers are finally realizing that that's just the way they are, b/c when i first started, i think they thought i was always ready to cry at any minute!

Yes ia couple of times once in 1994, When my cousin passed away from a car accident in north carolina when he was going to a wedding with a friend, And My uncle who was in a plane crash ( a small commercial company plane) that went down)

Than in 1999 when my Grandmother passed away and My aunts Husband passed away from cancer. they were practically back to back deaths one was in dec and the other practically the next month...

Yes when my old boss gave me the worst review of my life that was uncalled for. She was only my boss for 3 months and only gave me a review for those 3 months. I was with the company for 1 1/2 years and had the best numbers out of the 10 in my dept and doing 2 other peoples job too. I called DH on my break and was so upset that he could not understand me and needless to say the next day I gave my notice becuase that was the last straw with her. She had so much pressure on me to do 2 other peoples job besides my own that I started to make mistakes. I would go home upset and stressed everyday that I started getting sick. I am so happy now where I have no stress and no boss who thinks they are the high old mighty.

Yes, every time I've been laid off. The first time it was common knowledge that the company was laying people off, but my manager asked me to meet him in his office to talk about a project, then he met me at the elevator and told me we were going to talk to HR about tuition reimbursement. So I go down thinking they are going to tell me that they have to stop paying for grad school. I was just so angry bc he couldn't even look at me when the HR person started talking about my position being eliminated.

The 2nd time it was 10 days before we closed on our house so I was freaking out about that and how I was gonna find another job being 5 months pg. Then the last time, I was almost 8 months pg and the one that was carrying the insurance so that caused the water works.

I have on several occasions. I cry very easily when I'm frustrated.

not yet, but coworkers regularly cry due to the high intensity, fast pace frustrating nature of our job. i will eventually.

Once. The day my ex-boyfriend broke up with me and I found out I had to have a lump removed from my breast (both things happened on the same day)

two times..
1st time, my friend at work told me she had a miscarriage EVERYONE saw me crying at my desk that day And I had no excuses why, since it was a secret that my friend was TTC.
2nd time, I had an arguement with DH relating to work. It was about me having to go on a business trip for a project that wasn't mine and it overlapped with one of his trips and we wouldn't see eachother for weeks, and he was telling me to make someone else go... I was telling my friend at work about it and I started crying. I usually don't cry about stuff like that, a week later I found out I was pregnant so it must have been the hormones.

Oh YES!
I'm a big crier and so many different things have made me cry at work.

1. Just being overwhelmed
2. Pregnancy hormones
3. Feeling that the system was failing our kids
4. Situations that students have told me about that are AWFUL
5. Parents that need help and dont know what to do or where to turn
6. Things kids have said (happy tears )

Yes.
1.) When my sister text messaged me that they moved my dad into hospice.
2.) Different office--the boss was a complete sociopath. I had a panic attack because he was about 8 inches from my face SCREAMING at me that I didn't get a patient to commit to @$2000.00 of treatment (unneeded treatment).

Yep..... My sister sent me an e-mail that really upset me and I blubbered. Luckily, I sit in a cube that is pretty private.

Once was when we had to put my dog down a couple of months ago. My mom called and told me to come over that night to sit and spend time with him.

The other was a couple of weeks ago when my sister and I got into over the phone.

When I worked like a million years ago..It was my last day (I had given 1 months notice) and at 5PM everyone came up to me all at once to say goodbye and I olst it I ran outside crying and never went back in!

Oh yes, and I think people were really surprised because I come across as very collected, but I'm really a crier at heart.

I've had good tears and bad -

I teach ESL students and sometimes I am so proud of the growth and the things they accomplish that I can't help but cry tears of joy.

And I've had experiences with parents and teachers that have brought me to tears. I've never lost it in front of my class though.

Yes , let me count the ways..

Was it a fight with my DH? Probably.

Was it a rude / mean / disrespectful supervisor? At my last job yes.

Was it me being my sensitive old self when being "criticized" at work? Yes..

Was it the nurse at my RE's office who called me and said "yea so it looks like you are gonna need IVF / ICSI to get pg" all non-chalant...

I am just so sensitive it doesn't take a lot.

I have in the past and would be able to go in the bathroom quickly and then come back in the office without anyone knowing. Most recently I could not hold it in and was a mess when I was told I was being laid off due to the company not doing well, seeing more of this lately and boy is it sad.

Not over anything work related. If I shed a tear at work I am usually reading something on LIF

I've cried at work a few times but very few times in front of someone.

In my office behind closed doors? Yes.

I have an extremely stressful job and work on a close team. Emotions and stress get the best of me sometimes and I have to shut my door for a few minutes. It's not a frequent occurrence, but it has happened when I've gotten overwhelmed before.
