Have you had date nights since your DC was born?
I think I have posted this once before, but I wanted to say it for all the newer Moms - seriously make sure that you are doing this on a regular basis.
DH and I have never been on a day night since DD was born - next week she will be 16 months
Since our Anniversary is coming up - we decided we will have a date night - we are going to go out to dinner - maybe a movie - honestly I am just happy if it is just dinner.
I think not doing this has put a damper on our relationship - I mean all is good - but I very rarely have time to just sit with DH alone and just talk.
SO PLEASE take my advice, go out everyone once and a while just the 2 of you.

Re: Have you had date nights since your DC was born?
I think we have had maybe 2 or 3 since my son is born. he is 2 1/2/ We do not have a lot of baby sitters? My mom watches my son during the week and I feel bad having her watch him for a day night.

DH and I are very fortunate. My parents are willing to watch Emma any time so that we can go out just the two of us.

Re: Have you had date nights since your DC was born?
We have had a few. Anytime our parents are in town we take advantage and leave them with DS and go out. Unfortunately, both of our families live out of town and we don't feeel comfortable leaving DS with anyone else yet.

Twice since Sarah was born. She's 2.5.
Just remembered that we also went to DH's office holiday party each year, but that was really work, we were seated with clients the whole night.

Re: Have you had date nights since your DC was born?
Niko will be one next week and I think we've had maybe 1-2 date nights.. if that Part of this is my fault..my Mom always offers.. but I was (and still am somewhat) very reluctant to leave DS at night, since he has always been difficult to put to sleep, etc.
We have a wedding coming up at the end of October and I cannot express how excited I am to have extended time together with DH while my Mom watches DS .. I've never looked forward to a wedding so much

We've had a few. It's hard because we have to hire a sitter so it's at least $50 just to walk out the door. I wish we could get out once in a while and see a movie!

Re: Have you had date nights since your DC was born?
We go on date nights pretty much every Friday- or at least every other Friday (bare min. 1 friday/month)
I dont usually leave until DS is in bed- or just before his bed time, but I agree its important to make time for "us".
Its usually just dinner/drinks, sometimes we meet friends. sometimes its just us. DH would prob like to do alot more, but time and budgets dont always allow that

Re: Have you had date nights since your DC was born?
a few times my sister was in town, she watched josh while we had a date going grocery shopping
other then that, nothing. When my family is in town, I would like to leave him, but he really doesn't know them at all and I don't want to put him or them through a long night.

Re: Have you had date nights since your DC was born?
not as regularly as before Ella, but we still get out fairly often.
We had our first date night when E was 3 weeks old (we had made reservations at Lands End, where we got married, for lobster night before she was even born).
We're lucky though. We have willing babysitters (family) nearby.

Re: Have you had date nights since your DC was born?
DD is still really young (8 weeks today) and we left her for all of maybe an hour to go to a Baptism prep class last week and will be leaving her again with my parents next weekend (9 weeks old) to go to DH's really good friends wedding. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it all at the same time. We've already decided that either I wont go to the church or we will bring DD (the church is in our town) and then my parents will watch her for the reception. There is a four hour gap btwn the church and reception.

Re: Have you had date nights since your DC was born?
Hmm, maybe one-three times we've been on a date night since Gianna was born. But we do make time everynight without any distractions like tv or even talking abuot the kiddies to just sit and talk, cuddle or do whatever else hits our fancy.
You def got to put your marriage first, i know it sounds harsh, but our relationship comes first before anything.
I am dying to go out and have a dinner alone and drinks with DH though! My anniversary is next week! We'll see!

Re: Have you had date nights since your DC was born?
I truly hate leaving DS since I work FT and want to spend all my spare time with him. But DH and I have gone to the movies ONCE and dinner alone a few times in the past 11mths.
Date night to us is ordering in, watching a movie having a bottle of wine after DS has gone to bed. We are going away without him for the weekend and I dread I will miss him terribly.

Re: Have you had date nights since your DC was born?
Never....DD is 20mths. We left her once for a two hour work event which was not fun - she cried all the time and we ended up racing home to her.
I would love a date night but my family dont live in the same country never mind the same state. i have two sisters in the city but they are pretty busy with their own lives.

Re: Have you had date nights since your DC was born?
We've had a few already.
We also take Alex out to dinner with us - she sleeps the whole time.
But we've had actually 3 nights where we left her with someone.
- dinner for my birthday - Wicked (bday present from my mom) - this past Tuesday since my sister offered to stay with her.
I will accept every offer for someone to watch her - it's good for all of us.

I totally agree with you.
We've had 1 date night (I think) since Abigail was born in May--just out for dinner on Bell, nothing crazy.
We are so lucky that we have babysitting options, but we don't really seem to exercise them unless we have an event that we *need* to attend, like a wedding. We did have a wedding last Friday and I was bummed because my parents were driving with us
I think this thread has just inspired me...thank you!!
