Having DD 3rd Birthday at a Gymnastic Place!! Question about food

So this is the first time I am having a party at a place. we are getting pizza, soda for adults.

Should I make Cupcakes or just get a sheet cake? Should I just make cupcakes for the kids? Or should I make them for both kids and adults.

What else did you put out? How many bottles of soda? Only 13 kids

Would love any tips from BTDT parents who do birthday parties at places instead of home.

Re: Having DD 3rd Birthday at a Gymnastic Place!! Question about food

I just had dd 5th bday, I did ice cream cups from car el with sprinkles. I know alot of kids who would eat the icing, i also got buckets of chocolate chip cookies from stop and shop.

I think cupcakes would be great idea rather than a sheet cake

Re: Having DD 3rd Birthday at a Gymnastic Place!! Question about food

Well this is our 3rd year doing a party at a place. Past 2 years we just did pizza and drinks through the place but the parties were at lunch time. This time (party is Sunday at a gymnastics place). I am doing cookies, chips and salsa and some veggies and dip. I am getting a case of water and a large bottle of coke and diet coke in case someone doesn't want water. It is at 2 pm this time. I haven't done cake or cupcakes for the parents. I have only been to one party where they have cake for the parents. Usually it is only for the kids. I ordered cupcakes again this year for the kids. I find some make cupcakes but most buy a cake or cup cakes - I think either is perfectly fine wharever you prefer. Ours is a joint 3 and 5 year party and they wanted purple flowers and butterflies so I ordered them.

I think also it depends on your crowd. I found in the past the parents either don't eat or barely but this seems to be our group. I have been to parties from outside this group and every eats and eats a lot. Some alternatives to adult foods I have seen. Bagels (cut up into 1/4), fruit bowls/platters, wrap sandwiches, cookies, veggies and dip, pretzels, coffee, muffins. Depending on the time of day.

thank you for the information I usually do home parties and a ton of food and drinks!!
The party is also starting at 2:30-4pm
I'll still do the pizza for kids and adults and just cupcakes for the kids!! its only a half hour for food.

i would have some sort of dessert for the adults.
i made a sheet cake for my sons party and at the last minute DH thought it wasn't big enough so he got a small round bakery cake to have in case and the adults ate every last piece of it.

We only have 30 mins for the food - but at the place the girls are having theirs - the parents don't go into the gym - they stay in the main lobby/food area and watch the party through the glass windows. So they will be standing around. The past 2 parties the parents ate less than 1 pizza so I had a bunch left over the 1st time and one extra last time.
