Heart Murmur
Anyone had to go see a cardiologist for a heart murmur? Both me and DH had one when were babies, I know they are common, but my ped is sending me to a specialist ped cardiologist, which is making me a little nervous. I made an appointment and they told me that the appointment will be about 2 hours. 
Anyone know what kind of tests they are going to do?

DD had to see a ped. cardiologist as well. They will probably do an echocardiogram (basically a sonogram) to check the heart. We were nervous too

Yes when john was born they heard a murmur.
They do and EKG and ultrasound
Basically an ultrasound of the heart...so you can see the heart.
then the EKG where they put the nodes on his chest.
Good luck. John's turned out to be an innocent murmur.
ETA: ped hasn't heard it since!

I just went through this while back with DD. The ped heard a slight one at my DD's 3 year appointment.
We went to a ped. cardiologist and they did an EKG and a sonogram of her heart.
It was an "innocent mumur" and nothing to be worried about. Something she could grow out of.
A LOT of ladies here on LIF put my mind at ease

Just went through this with my DD. I have to run to a meeting now, but FM me and I will give you all the details, and can give you the name of a great pediatric cardiologist.

What time is your appt? Mine actually took closer to 3 hours! They looked at her heart for a looong time, and then we had to wait a while for the doctor to "read" the EKG. Hope the week flies by so you get some peace of mind

its at 11:15. That means I have to leave work at like 10:45. Who knows how long I will sit in the waiting room. I don't know if its worth it to even go.

If you can take off then, I probably would since the appointment is right in the middle of the day

they heard one on jack too, immediately after birth so they did an ekg and eccho in the hospital
i assume they will do the same now

I say take the day off that way if it takes longer yo don't have to worry and you can make it a mommy and Tyler day. Also don't worry they will do an EKG and an Echo read it let you know what they saw and thats about it. HTH
