Heartbeat per minutes and gender
Was the old wives tale about a fast heart beat and it being a girl true ?

Mine has consistently been in the mid to high 140's and its a girl, so no, the heartbeat thing is nothing more than a wives tale.

Re: Heartbeat per minutes and gender
In any pregnancy, the hb starts slowly, rises, and then falls again. So really, there's no way to say a high hb is a girl and a low is a boy b/c it will change throughout your pregnancy.
Both DS and now DD had fast HBs. No significant difference.

Heartbeat per minutes and gender
At our first few apts, DC's rate was so high, even my doctor joked about it being a girl... I have a son.

Heartbeat per minutes and gender
I don't think so, not for me anway. We are having a boy and at our first sono he was over 170 BPM and at 12 weeks I remember the HB was 168BPM. A few people said 100% girl and turns out we are having a boy!
I have a tough time believing any of these old wives tales. The only one that I find to be true at times is regarding morning sickness (girls make you sick/boys do not). This was true for me and many people I know.

Re: Heartbeat per minutes and gender
I don't believe in it. None of the old wives tales proved to be true for me. My twins are girls and both of their heart rates are in the 150s. I never had morning sickness at all. The Chinese gender predictor was wrong and I craved both salty and sweet foods. My mother in law and her ENTIRE family were 100% sure they were boys.
I think sometimes its just a coincidence.

Re: Heartbeat per minutes and gender
Nobody ever told me my DD's heart rate on any sono. I didn't know it was information I was supposed to have or remember.

I don't this it is, unless maybe it is unusually high or low. My DR and sono tech only told us because my DH asked.

My DR didn't tell me either. One time I made my husband look on the doppler while he was doing it. Just because I was curious.

Re: Heartbeat per minutes and gender
I had a boy... in the beginning the sono tech told me girl because the HB was around 160.. later on in the pregnancy it was around 140. So in the beginning it was wrong...
My last HB for this pregnancy was measured at 12 weeks and it was 162 i believe. But I still have a feeling that this one is a boy, too.

everything always has a 50/50 chance when it comes to these old wives tales...pretty high odds so count on it being true for half of you and not for the other half lol
